2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. It dies every time I shift into drive when put into reverse it does fine and does not die, only in drive or lower gears.

Question edited for clarity, full year make model, correct spelling of 'Cruiser' and 'does'. Question moved to model category. You own one of the worst cars that Chrysler ever made. You can't fix that mess by guesswork, you have an electronics issue. You need a mobile auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer to read the codes and the data from the ECM when it is running and put into gear. the codes and data will dictate the fix. They are cheaper than a garage because they have no premises, just a van. https://www.google.com/search?q=mobile+auto+electrician+near+me ..

Indicators and hazard lights not working.

The blinkers run though the Hazard switch. Have you done work recently on the radio or anything in the dash where it could have come unplugged? I would check the switch and make sure it's all connected there first. I have seen several people with this issue and most just recently installed a radio (or had one stolen) and the hazardbutton never got plugged back in... How do I replace the subframe

by sub frame I`m guessing you mean the frame under the engine & transmission. if so you have to support the engine/trans with an engine brace and disconnect every thing that is attached to the sub frame then unbolt the frame bolts and lower the sub frame. note this is heavy weight so make sure you have help and something to support the frame when doing this.

My daughter has a 2002

I doubt it is the PCM, though it could be, as the voltage is regulated by the PCM. It could also be the fusible link. There is a way to test, if you have a voltmeter. With the engine running, check the voltage at the alternator terminal. It should be at least 14 volts or more. Also check it at the battery. It should be the same. If lower at the battery, replace the fusible link.
If it's the same at the battery and both are above 14 volts, the charging circuit is probably fine and the problem may be a short in the car. I can send troubleshooting steps for a short if someone is good with electric circuits.
If the voltage is lower than 14 at the alternator terminal, then either the alternator is bad or the PCM is bad, and your mechanic may be right.

Change the thermostat on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Hi, i have put together a step by step guide that will help you with this replacement job. Make sure the vehicle is in a cool state before starting this job.

* Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.
* Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.
* Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.
* Remove the gasket and scrape it carefully from the surface of the housing and the mounting surface on the engine. If the gasket remains on either of the surfaces, there will probably bea coolant leak after reassembly. Some engines use a rubber O-ring to seal a thermostat housing.
* Compare the size of the thermostat to the old one. They are of different sizes, types, and temperature ratings.
* The temperature rating is stamped on the sensing bulb on the bottom of the thermostat. The temperature bulb faces the block.
* When replacing a thermostat, be sure that the thermostat fits into the groove in the block or outlet housing. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the engine will overheat.
* Install the gasket.
* Reinstall the thermostat housing. Refill the system and run the engine or pressure test to check for leaks.
* When the engine has reached operating temperature make sure the thermostat opens.
* You should be able to see coolant circulating within the radiator.
* Another way of checking thermostat operation is to feel the top of the radiator hose or use a thermometer or multimeter with a temperature probe to confirm that the coolant is warming up.
* If the engine is overheating, but the top hose is still cool to the touch, the thermostat is stuck closed and must be replaced.

NOTE
When a paper gasket is used and the recess is in the thermostat housing, it is a good practice to position the thermostat into the recess and glue the gasket to hold it in place. If it falls out of its groove during installation, the outlet housing can be cracked or a coolant leak will result. Before tightening the water outlet housing, try to rock it back and forth to be sure it is flush. Housings are often cracked during this step.

I have a 2002 chrysler pt cruiser and my radio

Try to take the radio out and look at the fuse in the rear of the radio. You have 2 fuse locations one at your left knee and the other under the hood near the battery. Look in the owners manual for this fuse type, because some fuses work the same thing. Another thing could be that you have an anti-theft radio and it will not work with out you entering a code. The code is on the radio it-self or you have to contact the dealer with the vin number.......runjoe

I have a 2002 pt cruiser that will not shift into the next gear and the speedometer is not telling you have fast your going. I changed out the input output sensors and no change in these problems.

Check the ground connections (black wires) attached to the car's sheet metal under the hood and near the main computer (wherever it is located). Bad ground connections (loose, rusty, etc.) can sometimes cause problems like these. If that doesn't work, use a voltmeter to determine if power is being supplied to the sensors when the ignition is turned on. --If yes, it's either a problem with the wiring/connections from the sensors back to the main computer, or a problem with the computer itself (somewhat unlikely). --If no, either buy a repair manual for your specific year/model or visit a model-specific forum and see if you can find a wiring diagram. That should tell you where the power to the sensors is supposed to be coming from -- the computer or another source. Tracing those wires/connections will hopefully identify the problem.
