all three of my brake lights quit working and haven't been able to solve the problem. I checked fuses replaced with new and check bulbs and replaced with new. Someone told me to look at the brake pedal for a fuse or switch. I did and have no idea what to look for. Can somebody help with a solution.
hello sounds like a bad or loose wire on your brake switch up under your dash follow your brake pedal upward push down on your pedal now watch as you let it go slowley where it touches the skinny flat area of your petal touches a switch about 10 inches up from the bottom you should see a button sticking thru a bracket were your pedal touches check and jiggle wire if no lights change switch goodluck

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrongler 4.0L with manual trans. The check engine light comes on and the engine 'lurches'. I think it is cutting out. The shop said I need to replace the computer and the clock spring in the steerung column. They told me these Jeeps have a known problem with rubbing the wire harness and shorting the wires.
If I purchase an ECM on-line and make sure the wire harness is OK, is it just as simple as plugging the new ECM in or does it need to be reprogramed (at the dealer)?
Also, if it IS a short in the harness, why would I need to change the ECM?
well you wont need to change the ecm if its not burt yet.
try correcting the short first before you do burn out the comp.
if this is the model with the in line coil pack you will need to make sure the heater hoses are not drooping down on the pack.use wire straps to raise the heater hoses just off the pack.you may want to remove the pack and put some dielectric lube on the spark plug boots so it goes down all the way on the spark plug.when the plug miss fires and causes the engine to stumble the comp raises the idle to compesate.then the plug fires again and the idle surges.
hope this helps

Where is the voltage regulator located.
The Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component. It is actually a voltage regulating circuit located within the Power train Control Module (PCM). The EVR is not serviced separately. If replacement is necessary, the PCM must be replaced. Hope this helped and best wishes.

2001 Jeep Wrangler makes whistling sound except when you accelerate. Everytime you put your foot on the gas, it stops....take your foot off the gas and it whistles
if you have an aftermarket intake on the jeep the throttle body is making the whistle... there are many aftermarket throttle body spacers out there that can eliminate this...
if you dont than I think that we have the same problem... might be a vacuum leak if the jeep idles funny or it could be an exhaust manifold leak... I'll let you know if I figure out mine. :)

jeep wrangler parts diagram
You can go to any Chrysler dealer that supports Jeep, and they will typically provide you with diagrams free of charge. I've done it several times. You'll need to know what areas of the vehicle you want the diagrams for.

Our brake lights keep going out, the Stop LPS Fuse keeps popping. My husband checked wires, nothing looked wrong. He replaced the brake lamp switch and fuse still popped. Now he's checking actual tail light area, help please. Jeep Wrangler 2000 TJ
check to see if someone has installed a tow hitch on the rear, they would have spliced in the wiring in the rear of vehicle, thats where i find alot of corroded wire that were poorly taped.

My Jeep cranks over, will not start, odometer sometimes reads, "no bus"' hook up code reader, no codes all checks good, not hearing the fuel pump, new fuel pump (6 mo), intermittently starts, when I hear the fuel pump I know it will start. In a "no start" condition, I have no fuel pump, no gauges, odometer will give it's normal digital reading or read "no bus"', intermittent check engine light, the engine will crank butbwill not start. We've already replaced the CPS, ignition switch, reseated all the relays, and now checking pins on the connectors to see if they got pushed in....
Check fuses first, but could be needs new CPU

All of a sudden while driving today, my 2000 Jeep Wrangler was very hard to shift into 2nd, and 4th. If you shoved it hard enough, you could get it to stick in gear. Then when I got home, I couldn't shift into reverse, either. When driving, it was very hard to shift and get it to 'stick'. When stopped, it is impossible. Any ideas? Thanks!
I had the same problem, funny as it sounds but go to jiffy lube, oil rig, or one of those places and have them flush ur trans and have good fluid put in...

Sputtered when idling and almost felt like it was going to die. Almost 24 hours later engine light is on. Diagnostic tester showed cylinder 2 misfire. Where do I start. After reading other forums, plugs, etc changed out didn't rid the code. Is it possible for a dirty sensor somewhere?
huh what is etc? is it hard to type facts for free expert help>???
09 JK , I own a 08, stick. 3.8L V6. right?
you never said mileage, why?, mines at 60k,
P0302, is that hard to say , that it one only just 1 code, and
you reset it, and it COMES BACK, you never said so...
(to reset it push reset on the scan tool)
or learn which fuse to pull, I have real FSM in hand. can answer that. (its marked OID) in the TIPM fuse box, pull m3 fuse
for say 5minutes, all codes are forgotten now. 3.8L JK
that (my had to guess) code means, this.
weak combustion on #2 only. (slow piston acceleration is a fact)
so if all 5 others burn right how can just #2 fail only.
ANSWERS:
well its NOT FUEL MIX is it.
leaving only these.
1: sparkplugs gapped wrong, did you set them or guess?
to SPEC<, is the answer.
2: spark plug wire #2 to coil pack lug 2, is this new?
we work cheap to expensive ok./?
3: weak compression on #2. check that WOT?
wide open throttle (about) but never at idle position.
4: injector issues. #2 only (swap injector or learn how to do balance tests and leak down test on them, out of BOOKs
not internet bs rumors.
there it is...
the order above is by complexity and cost.
throw in bad coil but no miles stated so ,i guess low?
do not mix coil wires, or it will misfire. it has only 1 way to do it.
