2000 WJ Jeep Grand Cherokee
You need the Body control module (BCM) scanned for faults, these are BCM related problems, yes they are all computer controlled. Also did you get the new BCM programmed for your vehicle?
My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 l won't start.
why do you need a stealership?ever heard of and ASE certified shop.... its not the ECU it s not sensor is non of that, at all, its the STARTER SYSTEM.its a NO CRANKhere are the tests.17 of them.why did it start jumpedcorroded battery lugsbattery dead.? for many reasons not just batteryor what? its only a dead battery.its this. battery , cables, starter, wires, TRS switch and keyswitch.only THAT. and 1 starter relay.the ECU does not crank your engine, you do .
http://jeepdied.com/no-crank.htmlthe iddiott lamps told you the Cluster computer was nutsas all do lacking full power, 10v or less all go NUTSas do all computers made with power is not at spec.that was your clue to , voltage is not right.charge the battery would be next.(or barrow one)then when it started as it surely wouldyou see if the charge lamp is out. in cluster.?if 'out the alternator may be ok.what can happen is 3 things:bad battery (or just discharged)bad alternator system (car will stall in 1 hour or less if this fails driving) 40amp/hr, rules.or phantom drains. (battery drains as you sleep or work an 8 hr shift)http://jeepdied.com/phantom/phantom%20drains.htmlgood luck and do ask questionstop quest is , why does a starter fail to work?(answer it not the ECU/PCM or EFI systems)
Battery drain, fuse #12 in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
On the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee the # 15 fuse is the IOD circuit. (Ignition Off Drain) The # 12 fuse is the power windows. Both fuses are 50 amp.
This IOD fuse #15 powers the distribution box that contains the 50 amp fuse. Pull each fuse in the under hood.
Pull each fuse in the under dash. Check for on the passenger side floor is an additional fuse panel.
Before going to far suggest at night checking for any lights lit. The draw is about right for a small light bulb.
Typical draw for parked car is around 100 milliamps
Suggest that you disconnect power to the car for several minutes. Reconnect the battery. The object is to reset the body electronics module.
If the computers in the modules get a glitch they can cause a drain. By cycling the power, disconnecting battery, they will reset to factory settings. Reported it can take up to 20 minutes for the circuits to drain before you can reset!.
The Jeeps have several modules that can cause a drain
Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ Electronic Control Modules
the following web site does a great job of explaining all that is going on. What appears to be simple to troubleshoot is not so easy. He comments about delay before sleep are important. Testing after overnight may result in a different drain rate. Make sure that your battery meets specifications. In 2000 the drain rate may be relatively high and the reserve capacity of your battery low.

Ignition Key Stuck On Your 2000 Grande Cherokee? Check This Before a Costly...
When the key wouldn't come out of the ignition on our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we thought we'd be making an expensive run to the auto repair shop. We'd had that problem before about ten years ago and had the lock changed (at least I THINK they changed it) so we weren't pleased about having to do it again.
As luck would have it, it was after business hours for most auto shops, and the one I called suggested I call a locksmith. Lucky for us.
As I jiggled the gear shift, wondering whether it had fully engaged in park, I happened to notice a piece of rubber protruding from the front of the shift knob, where the release mechanism is. I pulled on it until it came off, revealing the metal button underneath.
At which point the ignition lock became unstuck, and I was able to fully switch it off and remove the key.
As best I can determine, the rubber piece was just decor, a rubber cover, fitted over the metal release mechanism on the knob (see picture of the kind of gear shift knob I have...Mopar, OEM). Only it had shifted from its intended position and was preventing the lever from fully engaging in park, thereby preventing the removal of the key.
I shudder to think of what this would've cost us in the shop.
Wj manual transmission gear box
4wd ????????????
WJ jeep
Y2K jeep, must be doomed with Y2k , LOL
the car was sold usa with AX5 box
or NV3550 box.
sticks, which one do you have, in a pallet.
???????
it will take many things to make work.
flywheel , bell housing, box, drive shafts, (more if 4wd)
and wiring changes, and the fire wall clutch pedals, and MC for slave .
and mount changes.
why not just buy a car with a stick and save a fortune.
ive done many cars to switch trans, and its no easy job.
why not just read the jeep.com pages and see all parts unique to the box.
even changes to PCM .
The car will fail smog took, because the PCM will BAARRF vast dtc errors and set you fail smog , in 1 second flat the CEL glowing.
its not trivial at all.
why do this, like punishment,/?
No reverse gear
Loss of reverse is a blatant signal that the transmission has failed and needs to be rebuilt.
Code P1388 and P1399
P1388 JEEP - ASD or CNG (compressed Gas) Relay Control Circuit
Possible causes
- Faulty ASD Relay (most common cause)
- Faulty CNG Relay
- ASD or CNG Relay harness is open or shorted
- ASD or CNG Relay circuit poor electrical connection
- ASD or CNG Relay poor ground or supply voltage condition
P1399 is a related to the P1388 failure.
Set timing on ignition
The ignition is computer controlled and has no adjustment of any kind. That said you need to run a scan through the diagnostic service port under the dash to see what fault codes are stored that may explain what is causing this. You may also have an internal engine problem like a timing chain failure or other issues.
CD HOLDER STUCK
dash radio,
stock radio
is it the single deck model or the multi deck option/
photos work best, for all that.
if that is the only failure, (radio works)
then the cd is jammed, can be cause by many things.
broken CD
parts of previous cd broken parts inside jamming it
or its far worse.
it will need to be dismantled, to fix it.
unlike computers, there is no tiny hole there for paper clip to eject it , emerg. mode)
so repair on the old one, labor and parts would exceed cost of upgrade, why not go CD free, use memory stick, with your CDs ripped to MP3, files, and move on,....
the last CDs will be sold in walmart.
and the isle keeps shrinking and soon to be like VHS videos, a memory.
How do I replace coolant sensor,
why not do what it says to do?not sure what you saw there are many coolant errors that are possible on this car.but if RAD level low , that means ...the side bottle (plastic expansion tank) is low.it has a sensor there, if the coolant levle there is ok . (i bet its NOT)then replace this sensor, or the wires fell off.or clean it , if it fibs. clean it, and now works.the parts are all shown in one or 2 placesthe online dealer parts pages, jeep dot com and herelets turn to the correct pageclick WJclick http://www.morris4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service
