if you have a bmw 325i 2001 model try this solution:
if you have one key , go on to the next step. if you have more than one key, like two or more than follow this procedure.

step one: unlock the doors with your key and get in and close the doors but do not lock them
step two: put your key into the ignition and turn it but not to start the engine, do this less than 5 seconds

step three: take the key out of the ignition and put it near the shifter. press and hold the unlock button while pressing the lock button 3 times. you have 30 seconds to do this. the doors should lock and unlock automatically signalling that it the key has been reprogrammed. if you have more than one key follow those steps for each one except for step one. remmember you have only 30 seconds for each key. that should help you.

How do I safe remove the headlight assembly on a BMW 325i premium package?

Hello,

I recently purchased a BMW 325i in excellent condition, I also purchased a set of aftermarket projection headlights, self contained assemblies. I tried to remove the stock headlights and ran into a host of problems trying to get them out... after unscrewing and unclipping what I thought was holding the lights in, I was still not able to figure out what is holding them in place. Can you assist me in understanding what is the proper procedures for removal.

Thanks,

Troy

There are 2 8mm screws on the top of the headlight and 2 identical looking screws on the backside of the headlight assembly (you will need about a 6 in extension for those 2). Directly under the headlight assembly you might have a painted trim piece. The trim is anchored toward the center of the car and can be released by pressing the tab in. If you want to leave it on when removing the light, it is also ancord in at the fender corner. You will need to remove the turn signal first.. There should be a small hole about 1 1/2 inches behind the turn signal. If you see a tab in hole, carefully press down while pulling turn signal out.

2001 BMW 325i Power Window Won't Go Up

Early this afternoon, I opened the window halfway while waiting in the car. When I started my car, the window wouldn't go up. After pressing the switch a few times, the window went down all the way and would not go back up. I can hear a faint noise that the motor for the window seems to be running. Is it a fuse problem? Could it be the switch or regulator that broke? How can I tell? Shall I replace all window fuses first and see what happens? If so, where are they?

I'd greatly appreciate your help!!

Have you tried spraying the window guides/channels with silicone, the motors are very small that operate the window, it just might be they are sticking from no lube, I have seen this many times in my 30 years as a tech. If this doesn't provide the cure swap the window switchs and see what happens that may be the issue. This is from a post on a BMW owner site:

When I put the switch from the front window in the console for the rear window, I got nothing. When I put it back in the front console socket, I was able to roll the window back up. So, now it looks like I have 1 switch with a faulty down and one with a faulty up. I took the switch out of the console for the rear left window and tried it on the front right window. The window goes up and down! However, I'm still getting nothing when I put it in the console for the rear right window as well, looks like one switch is defective on down, and the other on up, so I replaced both.

bmw 325 window regulator with motor installation

Front passenger window wouldn't go up in my bmw 325i. It seems to be jammed inside? Dealer advised that I need a new window regulator with motor. Does anyone know where I can get one and how hard is it to install it?

chances are, the motor is fine. the regulators break all the time though. You can install it yourself with a little common knowledge. First obtain a new regulator for the respective door from your local dealer. To begin, remove the door panel. use a small screw driver to pry off the wood trim at the top portion of the door panel starting from the rear and moving forward. then pry out the small cover by the door pull as well as the 2 covers underneath the armrest. use a T-20 torx driver to remove the 5 hidden screws. then pry the door panel off of the door being careful not to ruin the clips or tug on the wiring. set the panel aside. now you will need to remove the side airbag (if applicable)using a 10mm socket. release the locking tab on the plug by prying it up approx. 1/4 inch, and then pull the plug out of its connector. be careful not to turn the key on with this unplugged or the airbag light will be tripped on. if you must , re install the plug so that the computer can "see" it. Now remove the vapor barrier using a razor blade. be careful not to rip it. once the inside of the door is exposed you should remove the 3 T-30 torxes on the window motor. then tilt the motor out of its bracket and remove it. you may have to pry at it depending on how tight the cable tension is. Now that the regulator is left in the door you have to remove it. lift the window by hand up in the door until you can see the two 8mm screws attaching it to the regulator through the 2 rectangular slots in the regulator arms. if the window is jammed down and will not move, use a pair of **** or wire cutters to cut the cable to free it up. now remove those 2 8mm screws and push the window back and up into the door where it goes when you roll it up all the way. now remove the 5 10mm screws holding the regulator to the door. install the new regulator into the door and bolt it in place. pull the window down and install the 2 8mm screws. re install the motor, vapor barrier, and airbag. then press the door panel back onto the door and bolt it back in, and finally install all of the covers.

This is what I could find. It doesn't have a steering whee radiol control fuse but has 2 fuses for the radio. It seems to be the same panel across the board for BMW's. 4x4's, diesels, gas, 6 and 8 cylinders, etc. Hope it helps.

Water leaks into my BMW 325i

Any idea how the water gets into my BMW 325i? It happens when it rains heavy. The water is in the driver's door and it just sits there until I wipe it with the cloth. Today I've noticed the floor was wet on the back passenger floor. Any idea what to check for? I don't want to damage the car? I've heard it could be the drain in the sunroof but if that was the case then wouldn't I get the water all over the car's floor? Please help!

Check your outer door window seals. If they are worn water will leak through the door to the floor.

engine speed will not rev over 4000rpm

I own a 316i, 1999model. when I put my foot down on the gas pedal sharply, The rev counter will not show over 4000 rpm, but if I gradually increase the speed it will show max. rpm. But in practise, the car will not pick up speed, when a sharp acceleration is needed! Please tell me what to look for. It felt if there is a starvation of fuel. i have a 1993 318i, the engine misfires badly once i go to 4500rpm and loses all power, i have changed the filters, plugs and leads but it is no better! once i let off the throttle it eventually clears and runs fine, any help please! I have the same problem in my 2001 bmw 325i it wont rev past 4000 rpm<!-- from fixya rte -->

Sounds like a fuel filter issue. If the filter is clogged or is getting to the point where it's going to be clogged badly the amount of fuel going to the engine will be restricted. This would cause your stated problem. Theoretically there isn't much of a need to go over 4000 rpm unless you are racing with the car but I think most bimmer owners can understand where you are coming from:) As far as the 1993, I'd check all your intake piping and vacuum lines and make sure there are no leaks whatsoever. An easy way to check is to have the car running and spray carb cleaner on the intake piping and such and see if your revs increase, if they do you've got a leak. Hope this helps! I'd be glad to help with any other questions you might have a please don't forget to rate me.

you can either go in from the bottom or the top.. top take intake off and starter is below againt firewall.. bolts holding it in are wedged between trans housing and firewall tight but you can manage.. remove and reinstall be careful of wires when i did it 2 snapped off and hard to replace them.. going from below you need to remove exhaust a small canister on a bracket and loosen the transmission and lower about 2 inches before being able to get to the starter to remove..

What does the indicator light

What does the indicator light above the odemeter mean when it flashes- it the light that is shaped like a triangle with a almost complete circle around it.

If the light you are seeing is yellow/orange in color (see below example), and flashes intermittently when you're driving, that is the Dynamic Stability Control indicator.

DSC is always turned on, by default, unless you turn it off. The indicator light will flash whenever the DSC system detects any loss of traction or stability (oversteer/understeer), when your vehicle is in motion.
