I have an 06 Grand Vitara that just hit 50,000 miles and the ESP light came on. I brought it in to the dealer and was told I needed a Hydraulic Control Module Assembly for over $1800! The part is not under warranty. The fault code was C1028. Any suggestions? I am thinking of trading it in being that the KBB value is only around $7000
I have the same problem, my 2006 has less than 50,000 miles and light is on....does it really matter, or is the light just somethings that comes on

I own a 2006 Grand Vitara, I recently purchased a new battery. Since that moment the engine starts fine but once I shift to reverse or drive the engine shuts down. If I start the A/C, the engine will shut down even in Parking. Any sugestions, Thanks
Did you resolved the problem?
I also have a Grand Vitara, and just replaced the battery and once I turn the vehicle on, it will shut off.
What it is going on?
Thanks

Replaced the battery in my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Started up the car and noticed a "system check" indication on the radio display. I turned on the air conditioner and it began to blow hot air in all settings. I turned the motor on and off a few times figuring this might "reboot" the system and or provide for a system check - no good. The air conditioning worked fine before the battery change. How does a battery change impact air conditioner operation in a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara?
My wife left the ignition on with the lights on and drained the battery completely. I'm having the exact same problem. Any ideas how to fix it?

A P0401 code sets. I have done the egr valve three times on this car. I have cleaned the intake and the exhaust tube five times. The last time was only 1000 miles ago. The egr valves are new from the dealer. When the code sets it causes a rough running and hard starting. When I take the egr valve off it is stuck part way open. Any suggestions on what is causing this and how to repair it long term? I run a fleet and this has happened to other viraras as well. thanks.John.

2006 suzuki grand vitara -gauges not working- speedometer, odometer, gas gauge. Not lit up there either. Can still see turn signal light when you use it and can still see time, mpg etc but otherwise completely dark. Please help - don't want to have to take it to suzuki dealership- who knows what they will charge!
here is what I would do. first i would search for "suzuki" and "instrument cluster" or "dash" over on www.youtube.com and see if someone has posted a video showing how to take the cluster out.
failing that i would buy a cheap CD repair manual on eBay to see how to get the cluster out. i would imagine they all come apart about the same way so it does not have to be an 06.
first make sure all fuses are good, then i would pull out the cluster see if there is any obvious visual fault. i would pull and test all the bulbs and if bad replace them. if the bulbs are good then look on eBay or craigslist for someone selling a vitara part by part. again most likely more than one year will match your car. There is also a GM tracker series which is the same vehicle so those parts will also fit your car.
with so many different things not working, you must assume a common element has failed, such as a ground or one of the 12 volt supply wires.
I had an 01, and my speedometer always indicated about 5mph too fast. two dealers told me to live with it as a new cluster was ridiculously expensive. i doubt they got any cheaper in 9 years.

I bought a used Suzuki Grand Vitara about a year ago. It has the keyless entry "key box". I have always used it. I recently tried to unlock my vehicle and it will not unlock with the key or the remote clicker. Will only unlock with the "key box".
Not a car expert but have some common sense advice---is it possible the vehicle was re-keyed before you got it? Someone may have lost the original keys and resorted to just using the other feature---a year is a long time not to know about this---I should not talk as recently got a vehicle where owner said rear window would not open for last two years=that vehicle has child safety locks on rear doors that also disable windows--needless to say nothing wrong.
I would talk to Suzuki if the key box is a factory installed item to see if it has a way of locking the physical keys out.
Worth asking---if after market item it may have been installed in a way that causes this issue.
