You most likely have a defective Combination switch (Also known as "Spiral Cable" or "Clockspring") The audio system uses pins 14, 18, and 17 of the combination switch to make conmection to the audio system. Pin 17 is the reference voltage in. A failure here, will cause ALL audio controls to malfunction at the same time.The cruise control uses Pins 19 & 20 of the combination switch....Totally different circuit. Just because this circuit is working, does not mean that the problem is not in the combination switch.

There are a number of things that could be the issue. Here is the fuse box diagram. You have two fuses and a relay covering the Air Conditioning. https://fuse-box.info/nissan/nissan-altima-l31-2002-2006-fuses-and-relays The system may need refrigerant gas, but check the fuses and relay first as it sounds electrical because the green signal light isn't on.. Much of the issues you have are ultimately controlled by the Body Control Module and you may have a computer communication issue. The only way to diagnose that is by an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check modules, sensors and the computer networks. This is not a $125 scanner, they cost between $3.5k to $5k.

sorry i have to say this, but have you checked the bulb? the cover pulls off pretty easily.next, check the fuse. the dome light fuse will run with another electrical component. be sure to check them all!and if you can manually turn on the light. check the door switch located in the door jamb close to the latch.

You need to connect it to a Code Reader / Scan Tool. It will give you a code and the code will tell you what the problem is. The more expensive computer scanners will diagnose every module in the vehicle. Garages will read the code for free in the hope of getting the work. It takes 2 minutes.

it could be a faulty blower motor. You said AIR on hot or cold.... what about just vent on high with the AC off? does that work normally?

I have seen this common problem on several Altimas. You have a wire that has been pinched in your power seat that is frayed and grounding out on the seat frame causing the circuit breaker in the BCM to trip. U will need to remove the drivers seat from the car, Use a screwdriver to pop off the seat adjustment knobs, the pop off the plastic cover from the seat switch. There are two phillips head screws holding the switch to the seat. It is necessary to cut the seat material a small amount to access the screws and remove the switch. U will need to unplug the switch from the bottom side of the seat and unclip the wiring harness from the seat frame in order to remove the switch/wiring harness assembly. Once removed you will see the chafed wire. Simply cut the insulator that covers all the wires back far enough to repair the wire. I normally take a small piece of vacuum hose, split it down the middle and put over the chafed wire. Tape everything up with some electrical tape. When putting everything back together, re-route the wiring harness to a different location so it doesn't get pinched again. A scan tool is needed to reset the seatbelt light, unhooking the wires turned the light on as a fault, a scan tool will reset code. also make sure all connectors are connected good, the computer may reset itself after it sees a few key cycles and tests the system and it passes but it may take awhile. i have seen some that will stay on until they are reset, if the light is still on after all this time then a scan tool will be needed to turn off the light. good day.
