Have a 99'Yukon. Runs fine at cruising but if I
Need to get caught up on Preventative Maintenance
AFTER you road test with professional scan tool & look
at data
My Guess:
Spark Plugs are not changed every 3 years
Oxygen Sensors are in the motor over 100,000 miles
Egr issues ?
Cylinder Misfires?
OBD Codes in the systems?
Worn Out TPS Sensor ?
Fuel Pressure ?
Worn Out Exhaust Converter-- for sure-- if original-thus loss
of fuel control
DO NOT THROW Parts at it
Have it tested & find a problem
Transfer case troubleshooting
This is a common problem with the push button 4X4. The most common as the switch, second ist the 4X4 shift actuator motor on tbe side of the transfer case. And tbe third is the tcc module. But first xheck all fuses. Sometimes just simply disconecting the battery for 20 minutes does the trick too.
Noise from motor flywheel
This is possible with engine off through a round inspection hole on transmission bell housing you can see the flywheel with a flashlight . now have someone rotate the engine by hand as you watch the flywheel a slight back and forth on rotation of engine can produce the noise and seeing the flywheel lag in rotation can prove the failure.
What would make engine stop running
Is the checkengine light on? If it is have it checked out. Have you changed the fuel filter? It may be clogged. Do you hear the fuel pump work when the key is on you might have a bad fuel pump.you can check pressure to see if it have a bad reading. Call auto parts store they can tell what the pressure should be.
Trying to get my truck to run
It's hard to say without more information but the first place I would start would be with the fuel/fuel delivery system. Could be bad gas, it does happen; clogged fuel line somewhere in the system, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump. If it's fuel injected it could be dirty injectors. There are a couple of ways to clean them, a fuel additive or remove them for cleaning. The other area would be a sensor or module some where. Most service stations will do a diagnostic for around a hundred dollars. I take mine to the dealer and they do it for $75.
