1990 Dodge Caravan Questions & Answers
Where is the inertia switch located on 1990 dodge caravan se.
Some Dodges don't have inertia switches.. They have a shutdown relay that senses when an engine has stopped and shuts off the pump. It is a relay somewhere by the passenger side strut tower in the engine compartment near the distribution box. You cannot reset it. It must be replaced if it goes bad.

Heater will not blow hot air
Assuming the radiator is full of coolant, and the engine is reaching normal temp of 190 degrees, you could have a blocked heater core or the temp control valve may not be working on the heater hose.I would check to see if both heater hoses are getting hot.

The largest V6 in 1990 was a 3.3L...Perhaps it is just a typo but the 3.8L was not an option until 1994...You have it as a 3.9L...It's important in order to answer correctly...Send a comment...I am working on the fault which appears to be a missing air pump belt...Saailer I’m happy to help further over the phone at

The engine turns over but
It's very likely your fuel pump has failed. Have somebody thump on the fuel tank while you're cranking the engine and see if it starts. If it does, replace the fuel pump. Otherwise get your fuel pressure checked, and check for spark. If no spark, check to make sure the distributor is turning(if applicable) If a 3.3 motor with no spark, suspect the crank sensor or cam sensor. Crank sensor is much easier to replace if experimenting.
