I have taped up the entire cowl vent with plastic sheeting. no more leaks. I think water is running down firewall and getting into the car somehow but can't find entry point.
I had the same problem on my 97 G AM for about a year now, Water getting on the driver side carpet all the way to the back,it just got worst over time, But I found the problem, you have to look behind the wiper motor where the fire wall meets the bodi ,there is a hire line crack rigth behind the wiper motor where the water coming from the wiper cowling drains from ther is some kind of coulking that is painted the same color as the car, you must clean the area with a screwdriver and soap, and use clear silicon with a coulking gun, you must remove the 2 top wiper motor screws do not remove the botom one not need to and remove the 2 wire plugs and pull the motor back and rotaded upwards know youre clear to do the job; good luck it worked for me.

what is causes overfueling and how do you fix it. The car is smoking. and consuming so much petrol.
Most likely to be an O2 sensor or a egr valve. Most likely there is a check engine code stored in your computer that could help you narrow it down.

how to remove a front passenger door panel with a window crank on a 1995 pontiac grand am
I have info on a 96 power door glass.....should be very simular. the triangle piece at the top front is just clipped on, the plastic piece around the opener handle is just clipped on. in the pull handle there are two screws, and the plastic piece just pops up. under the red reflector the is a screw. There is a "U" clip behind your window crank, remove this clip and the crank will pull straight out. (use a screw driver to open the gap between the crank and the door panel, to see the clip, Use a hook tool too remove the clip...you can also use a cloth or panty-hose in the gap and turn the crank, the cloth will grab the edge of the clip and pop it off)
after removing all the clips and screws the door panel is held on with plastic plugs, just pull the panel sraight out toward youself.
hope this helps.

have changed sensor for the coolant fan, can disconnect the sensor and fan continues to run, can also turn on ac and fan will run just fine.
Coolant fan will not run when temperature is high, car overheats.
Cooling Fan Temp Sensor is the First thing You Check (with what you have described) Cooling Fan Should ALways come On When The A/C is turned On as A/C Adds A Load to Engine, If Temp Sensor is Faulty it Will Not Give GROUND Signal to ECM >For COOLING FAN >RELAY to Give ground and turn ON The Fan.
There ARE 2 temp Sensors that Serve Different Purposes 1 is for Dash READING GAGE & Or TEMP LIGHT the Other is For ECM or Fan Relay (SAME Thing) you Said>""can disconnect the sensor and fan continues to run" < This Leads me to think you Changed the Wrong One. Not Questioning your Skills Just Here to Help.
TEMP SENSOR FOR 3.1L V6 is Located upper RH rear of engine compartment, near exhaust system. Temp SENSOR for 2.3L Engine is Located in LH rear of engine compartment.
I Hope this Helps Lead you to a NON-OVERHEATING Pontiac.
Good Luck and Have A Great Evening. rejakwilson

what type of oil does a 95 pontiac grand am take?
i'm assuming engine oil and if it is a 4 cylinder i would use a 5W-30 but if it is a 6 cylinder i would use a 10W-30 only for better protection.

my driver's window is stuck in the down position, I think it might be the fuses but I don't know where they're located
If it was the fuse, NONE of the windows would work. You need to check the wiring inside the black rubber boot the goes between the door and the car body. Over the years these wires tend to break due to opening and closing the drivers door. You can usually move the boot one way or the other and see if any are broken. If they are, use a quick connector to splice them back together. Try this before you go tearing into the door panel....

cylinderhead torque settings
I'm not sure what engine you have in your 95 grand am SO I will give you both the 4cyl and 6cyl Specs. Also you didn't ask for the torque sequence. I will include that as well for both. 2.3 DOHC Quad 4cyl: Torque sequence---> front ' 7 3 1 5 9 ' of engine ' 8 6 2 4 10 ' Step 1: torque bolts 1 thru 6 (26 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Step 2: torque bolts 7 & 8 (15 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Step 3: torque bolts 9 & 10 (22 Ft/Lbs & 90 degree turn) Recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION *** This engine uses "Torque To Yield" (TTY) head bolts that means they permanently stretch during the initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re-installed in order to obtain proper torque. 3.1 liter V6 Torque sequence--> ' 6 2 3 7 ' ' 5 1 4 8 ' Step 1: torque bolts in sequence to 33 Ft/Lbs Step 2: turn an additional 90 degrees Recheck final torque in sequence *** CAUTION *** This particular engine uses "Torque To Yield" head bolts(TTY) (that means the bolts permanently stretch during the initial installation.) You MUST use NEW head bolts when replacing or reinstalling the cylinder head in order to obtain the proper torque.

Water has started collecting in the driver side floorboard of my 1995 Pontiac Grand Am SE coupe. It has been raining here a lot recently, and my uncle thought there might be a hole in the floorboard, and water was coming through while I was driving. He pulled the carpet up, and the pad underneath was soaked through, but he didn't find a hole. I vacuumed as much of the water up as I could with a high-power vacuum, but it's still getting wetter. What could be causing this, how do I check to confirm, and what can I do to fix it?
I think i may be able to help. First check to see if the water has a sweet smell. If so its antifreeze and your heater core "located under the dashboard on pasenger side" has failed. The antifreeze will leak out and drain to various plsces on floor. If the water is only water then chances are that one of your hood gaskets that suround the hood hinge support has failed. hope this helpes and good luck.
