Started engine and was running rough Check engine
You've done a great job of trouble shooting thus far. I would certainly suspect the injector after all of that. But, I didn't see anything about you replacing the spark plug itself. I would try that first as a crack in the insulator (even hairline) will cause mis-fires. If the spark plug doesn't fix the mis-fire, it cold be caused by a bad fuel injector, bad signal (like a loose harness or bad wire) to the fuel injector, or a leak or valve issue on that cylinder.

Sounds like the only thing left is the solenoid. Follow the red battery cable from the battery and it will lead you to the solenoid. You can take an old screwdriver and momentarily jump across the two large connections. Make sure the car is not in gear if its a manual tranny. You should hear the starter crank. You still could have issues where the solenoid power is not getting to the soleniod to actuate it when you turn the key.

The engine has a mis
- The codes can be 2 or 3 digit for an OBD I reading. After the code is read once it goes through it again. The code you are getting is a code 33 - EGR opening not detected.
- The EGR is located on the top side of the motor on the back side of the throttle body.
- First check the vacuum lines around the EGR and make sure one of them did not come off.
- The next thing you need to do if all lines are in place is to remove the EGR. It's just held on by a few bolts, not to complicated to remove. These are know for getting high carbon build up in them.
- Once you pull it off you need to remove the vacuum lines and check the lines for any major blockages that would prevent air passage.
- If any carbon buildup is in the lines clean them out or replace them.
- Now check the ports on the EGR for any carbon build up. Clean if any is detected.
- If any carbon build up is detected then clean it up and try re-installing it again and see if this clears things up.
- If either cleaning the carbon out has no effect OR if you inspect and find no blockages then the EGR is bad and needs replaced.
- It may take a little time to figure out weather it is blocked or just bad but at least you don't have to pay anyone to do it for you so that saves you some money.
- Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.
Regards,
Tony
