See attached diagram of fuse locations...It is located in fuse box #2...The BOTTOM row of fuses counting from left to right are: 32, 33, 34, and 35....The fuse that controls the cigar lighter/computer is fuse # 29 (20A) and is in the row ABOVE the bottom row...These fuses count from left to right: 26, 27, 28, 29 (This is the bad one) 30, and 31....Guru...............Saailer

something that old your first goal is to locate a serviceable used unit, the whole cluster not just the speedo, via eBay or a junkyard. less than 50 bucks, but there is no warranty.
once located you look for a video on youtube of someone pulling the cluster, or buy a repair manual for a few bucks on eBay. watch someone do it or follow the instructions.
you may want to try that in reverse as the thing is only worth 500 bucks and will not be worth another cent with a working speedo. if it is too much work for you, then most likely you will not want a used speedo laying around.

TIME FOR A NEW ONE ,,,DONT CHANCE THAT OLD ONE.YOU COULD TAKE IT TO A RADIATOR SHOP AND THEY COULD BOIL IT.NEW RADIATOR IS ABOUT 100BUCKS.

If I am correct that vehicle uses a speedo cable that goes from the instrument cluster to the transmission.
If your speedo is not woorking you may have a bad cable or gear which is on the end of the cable and can be accessed by removing cable from tranny which is held in by a bolt and clip.
If your speedo is working but your odometer is not than you have a problem in the cluster itself.
You can have it repaired at a certified speedo shop or replace it with junkyard unit.

Check the battery voltage when the vehicle running on idle, it must between 13-15 volt.
Check the battery voltage on full electricity load (turn on headlight, A/C, radio, wiper), it must between 12,6-13,8 V, If the voltage under 12V, check the radiator fan and radio/power amplier

Unless you are talking about a timing chain that you replaced, which you just follow the timing marks...they can be gotten out of a shop manual; the computer takes care of the timing for you. It counts the pulses off of the cam, or crank sensor and refers it back and the computer while in close loop if everything is working right, it handles the rest. Isn't that neat.

Any job recently there? it's possible that the wires are crossed somewhere as the dome light and 3rd brake light are on the same harness. It could be that the third brake light is grounding out when it lights up, causing the dome light to come on.

There called brake lines..be careful when replacing..they are double fleared,,i would get them from a Ford dealer...Hope this help you??

Don't do this with your truck in gear but if you can get the engine to drop down closer to a normal idle by tapping the accelerator pedal, it is probably just a case of dry linkage under the hood. Use a lubricating spray (no WD-40, it evaporates) on the linkage you see moving when the accelerator pedal is moved. A weak return spring can cause this too but is a less common problem.

1-try some Lucas Engine Clean . 2-Change wires and plug

1996 Ford Ranger , I think not, the switch has a relay in the power juction box the only module I know about is the pulse module, If its not the switch and you need this part every salvage yard has this (its rare that these ever fails)

Recheck the fuel pressure. I have replaced them after one day. Most new ones I replaced inbetween 30 to 60 days. Chinese ****. Even OEM can go bad, but I have replaced more new pumps from autozone than anywhere else. Advance is next.
