Start with the basics. Varify that you have 12V at the J1 (solid red) at the SMEC at all times. Then check for J2 (blue or blue/white) when ignition key is on. If you don't, tug on all your fusible links. If they pull apart, you probably have a short to ground on that circuit. Also check all the grounds at the smec. They are black and black with white trace. Make sure they have =< .5 ohms to battery negative terminal. If all of that is well and good, make sure you have the correct 8vdc and 5vdc coming from the smec at the applicable places like the HEP, TPS, CTS, etc.
Backup lights do not work 98 dakota
I'm guessing all your other lights work? If so you should probably start by cleaning your grounds, or if you have a multi-meter or test light that would help a lot.
Where is the fuel filter
Locate the gas tank under the bed of the truck (drivers side) and follow the line. You'll see the fuel filter just a little way up from the tank. Mine says "fuel filter" right on it:) If yours doesn't have it printed on there, it'll be a cylindrical part about 3 1/2 to 4 inches long.
Leaking oil in a big way from around the oil pan
Don't know about a diagram, I don't see where that will help, but you might want to check the oil filter, oil filter adapter, oil pressure sensor all located at the oil filter, if you cant find it , clean the under side of the engine at the car wash and add engine dye to the oil, there is a kit that has a black light and yellow glasses in the kit, the additive is seperate, the light will make the additive glow yellow, always look at the highest point because oil spreads so bad, tighten the oil pan bolts not to tight, you will push the gasket out and have a worse problem. check around the front engine seal (front of the crank)

Is transmission for 1988 dodge dakota
Is the vehicle four wheel drive? If so the easiest way to find if you have the right trans is to measure the total length, or the length of the rear housing. If they are different, then they do not interchange. Also pay attention to the torque convertor, some have a 90degree bolt pattern and are stamped as such.
If the vehicle is two wheel drive then you need to look at the electrical connector on the driver's side of the trans (the one that has the pins pointing up). Then just count the number of pins, if they have the same number, they are interchangeable. Again, pay attention to the torque convertor.

You need to get a repair manual on the truck from Oriellys, it shows you how to pull the codes out of the computer because their ard several things that can cause the problem. Crank sensor is the most likely problem which is located on the top of the bell housing of the transmission. The coil could be another. You can retrieve the codes by switching the key on and off three different times, but you still need the codes. Hope this helps please leave comment.

Replace the Automatic Shutdown Relay. If that doesn't fix the problem, the other place I would look, would be the Hall Effect Switch inside the distributor. You should be able to change this part without removing the distributor. If the computer doesn't get a signal from the Hall Effect, it will shut down the ASD, which supplies power to the coil and the fuel pump.
My windshield wiper broke at the wiper motor and
Your search should be for a replacement wiper linkage assembly...this is one unit...Your best bet would be your local salvage yard...the internet salvage yards are also helpful...they will pull the part, and ship to you...Hope this helps.
My 88 Dodge 4 cylinder Manual 5sp regcab engine
The vehicle speed/distance sensor circuit is usually the culprit on these models. It is a balanced reed switch that is prone to breakage. The computer then guesses what the vehicle speed actually is. Turn the ignition key on,off,on,off,on again and the 'power limited' or 'check engine' light will flash the codes out in sequence. They are two digit codes so for instance, code 23 is flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash. This one usually won't turn on the power limited light but it will cause stalling at idle or coming to a stop. The other problem item could the MAP sensor, though without knowing those codes, it is my guess that the speed sensor is the place to start after checking the obvious items such as ignition and air filter condition, fuel filter condition and spark plug conditions. These four cylinder models used a Hall generator in the distributor - if it is getting weak - it will not send out good pulse trains to the computer and it will guess about Cylinder 1 location in its ignition map. Make sure you get the codes and match them up - there are plenty of resources out there if you Google the codes.
Replace fuel pump 1988 dodge
- First try to emptily your fuel tank as much as you can.
- Then remove the fill hose and also the vent hose. They are both next to each other.
- Then place a jack under the tank to support it in place and undo the two straps that hold the tank up (the bolt are the ones that are the furthest under the truck. there are two. the drivers are slipped into the chassie)
- Then slowly lower the tank with the jack (when you have the room remove your wire connections.
- Now lower it the rest of the way and slide it out from under truck.
- Before you unscrew the fuel pump make note of which way all your connections are facing.
- Unscrew pump and replace with new one (Make note of your float that is in the tank and that it is clear to float all the way to the top or your fuel gauge wont work.
- to install reverse the process
- Hope this Helps.
- Give feed back and tell me how you made out.
