What kind of tach? Is it new? Does it have jumpers or dip switches? Some tachs have loops that need to be cut to adjust for 6 or 4 cylinder engines.

Coil is good otherwise it would not run. Check you ignition switch possibly that. Old school way to hot wire a truck. With out the key.

Unless you have $3000 to spend on parts and labour for minimal HP gains then forget it. If you want power then buy a V8.
