I have a GMC Topkick lopro c6000 with a big block
Hi. Changing the coil first was a good move. Since it did not solve this illusive problem now change the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and I believe your problem will be solved. Joe
Thanks for choosing Fixya!!
Why is there no reistance in my ignition until after starter is engaged?
Replace the ignition assembly on the steering column. The return spring is in that module. Be sure to put your original lock cylinder back into the new assembly so you can use the same key. If you get a used one with the key cylinder in it, make sure you get the key that matches the lock. If not, switching the original lock back in is a real pain. With the correct key, you just rotate the key to the start/ignition position, push a nail/probe into the hole on top of the assembly and the lock cylinder should be able to pull out.
Engine oil cooler line leaking. Is it easier to
its best to replace the oil cooler lines.this should have the lines that run from the radiator to the oil filter housing and when you replace the line you will get both lines as they are made be replaced together.bypassing the line is hard to do takes more time and will leak as you can`t get it to seal properly.

Sounds like it's going into "Limp home mode"
When the computer detects a problem with the tranmission it drop it into a low gear just so you can get the vehicle someplace to service without doing any more damage.
Have the transmission looked by a professional

Hit the drums with a hammer. Serious to god! Hit the sides, hit the face between the studs, soak studs and center ring with wd40. Don't worry about breaking the drum. You have to be a muscle man to do so and as long as you don't hit the studs, you will not break anything either.
How often should you chane the fuel pump on a 95
When it dies it has to be changed. If It is very noisy , it could die soon. If you change it before it dies , you save the cost of a towtruck. Lots of 1995 vehicles are still on their original pump. Don't forget to change the fuel filter every once in a while. Most people don't do it often enough , and it causes stress for the fuel pump. I do my filter every other year.
Magnet fell out of rear differenital...where does
Take a clean rag and wipe out the bottom of the axle housing. This particular axle has a magnet placed in the housing, so make sure that any ferrous material is cleaned from it (other vehicles will have a magnet located on the inside of the diff cover). A deposit of fine silt-like material on the magnet is perfectly normal - remember that there's no filtration of the fluid - but chunks are bad (and trust us, shrapnel poking through the diff cover is worse).
The book says to place it in the bottom of the housing. as stated above
