I HAVE A 1988 CHEVY VAN G20 5.7 I CHECKED TIMEING
1/ Have you fitted the spark plug leads in the proper firing order.
2/ Look inside the top of distributor Top (this is not the first time a new distributer cap has very small crack) or the rotor arm is fitting the cap properly. Hope this helps Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.
5.0l. Where is MAP sensor located?
Should be on the passenger side of the intake. If you unplug it the engine RPM should change and the check engine light should come on. You would need a vac pump and an ohm meter to test it.

sorry to say but probably you are infor a rebuild usually reverse is on a separate band and probably needing rebuild
Brake line replacement/bleeding info
this might be more than you want to takle you can usually buy short lengths from part stores but if you need the full lengths you will need to buy it by the 25 foot roll you will need to double flange each side the parts store you are buying it from should asist I use oreillys then bleeding you must go furthest to the next furthest then down from that

The gallop you say that is happening I assume is a cycling Normal RPM to High RPM condition. This is most commonly due to a problem in the Vacuum advance system or a loose or stretched timing belt/chain. Check the timing and see if that is fluctuating.
What do the heater core hoses connect two
which end one end hooks to heater core the other end hooks to radiator or side of engine hot water from the engine runs thru heatercore air pushs thru heatercore to cause heat in vehicle

Be vary careful I think that it may have a reverse flow water pump. You can install the belt two different ways. Both will work but the wrong way will shorten you engine life a whole lot. Try your local library for a book on you car.

you need to heat the driveshaft around the u joint caps with a small propane torch till the plastic seeps out then using a socket and hammer knock out the caps try to do it before the shaft cools they will come out easier you can use two pieces of 2x4 wood blocks to hold up the drive shaft while you knock out the caps
