I cannot install the power
no - no need to remove the pully. If you are certain you have the correct size belt, there should be a tensioner on the power steering pump -- or else perhaps it is on whatever else the power steering belt also is hooked into & provides power to..
Best regards

I have a 1971 corvette with a 454. The starter is
A couple of things to check..
Since you did not have your starter rebuilt.. you may have gotten hold of post 75 starter.. there are differences.. the pre 75 have heavier windings and the copper tab to the solenoid is in a slightly different location. Also there should be a heat shield on the solenoid. You didn't mention if this happened after the car was hot or cold..
If this occurs when cold.. remove the starter and check the armature shaft.. it could be fractured.. it will work on the bench just fine.. but eventually under load.. will fail..
Obivously check all connections..cable condition.. and especially grounds.
Lastly.. it is not unsual for the auotpart store books to cross reference the wrong starter for these big blocks.. some starter replacements are often wrong for the year/motor and will extend the starter gear too far...
Good luck
I inadvertantly connected my battery cables
I suggest you test the charging system.. there is a chance you may have ruined the alternator by burning out the diode(s) in it.
When you say the car would not start.. you failed to mention if it was a sympton of a low battery or if it cranked hard but would not run.
Chances are the alternator needs to be replaced.. I say this as the car will run for a while on just the battery.. or even a poor performing alternator.. but the charging sytem should be tested.
Sorry to hear you had such bad luck.. there could be a lot more going on.. some times things happen that are not connected to a particular misadventure.. like a worn or lose belt that drives the alternator.. needs to be replaced or tightened.. but have that alternator checked out.
Good luck
Brake lights do not work
start by checking the fuses, if all check out good check the brake switch that you will find mounted above the brake pedal on the steer column.
Speedometer bounces around on my 1972 chevrolet
There is a cable inside the sheath of you speedometer cable that looks like a long tightly wound spring. It may be about to fail. You can remove it and get a new one. If it can not all be removed from the top - you will have to undo the cable at the transmission to remove it. Be sure you get all of it out. When you reinstall the new cable be sure and lube it well. I use motorcycle chain oil - it is water proof and lasts a long time. Let me know if this helps. Thanks. (nice a '72 hope it is realy good shape)
Pulled all fuses and battery still drained after 3
What you will probably have to do is locate the relays and circuit breakers and pull them. You will need a manual. You can get one at the library.I have Alldata but it does not go back to 72.So I can`t tell you where they are.So the library would be my next stop. You can also go to Auto Zone website and get Some parts and how tos.But I don`t think they have electrical schematics. You can try.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Could have a broken spring... or shock...
You didnt say if this happend before or after you took it for the tire and balance?
Depends how they Jacked up the car to change tires maybe spring isnt seating right..

There are fusible links at the starter motor on the main terminal .... you probably smoked one.

I would certainly try the proportioning valve. It's very rare, but they can go bad. I had a Pontiac Catalina, that did the samething, I replaced the proportioning valve and the brakes worked like new. The GM comination valve acts as a metering valve, failure warning switch and porportioning valve. I have had sticking calipers also cause no brake pedal.
How do i replace the
