It sounds like the thrust bearing. If the sound is like a shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh noise, and it goes when you depress the clutch, thats your problem. It's easy to replace, but it's a gearbox out job.
Did you mean that the battery was connected in reverse? if so this would have damaged the electronics , and ended with the failure of ignition system , fuel pump .
It's usually the rotating part of the gear shifter that's located on the steering column, being out of place, that will cause the ignition switch and rod not to be able to turn off all the way. Check that out first.
I would say that your wiring loom leading to the alternator could be shorting out either with moisture or by explosed metal of the cable through the car's metal work, It would be worth it if you are skilled in the use of electrical testing equipment (DMM)to follow continuity of resistance along the wires, although this will require having to make breaks in the cable or un attaching established connections, And/Or looking for obvious damage (frayed cables etc.) if you dont know what your doing then its much better to get somebody who does, Hope this helps, Sion.
there should be a rubber plug right under the front window on either side (the plug on the left can only be removed by removing the windshield wiper) once you have done this use a screw driver to push down on the latch under the hood
I believe the ign. switch sits on top of the steering columbe diconnect - battery cable lossen the 2 nuts that hold steering colume in place take of the nuts if necessary to get to ign switch, unplug electrical connector from switch remove & replace switch &bolt back up the steering columb dont over tighten or pinch electrical lines whendrawing steering columb back up reconnect - battery cable
The headlights operate on a vacuum line system with rubber hose lines. with age of the hoses they break down and start to leak and need to be replaced. That usually is the most common problem.
