I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu LS V6. Sometimes when I try starting the car up it won't start. I have to push the gas lightly to get it started. I have had the the fuel pump checked millions of times and have been told nothing is wrong with it. What could be the problem?
I have an 04 Malibu and when I get hard starts when I'm in the car I just press the accelerator down about half way and it always starts right up, some times I have to hold the accelerator down a little after starting to stop it from stalling but it is rare.

what is the best way to replace the spark plugs in a 2004 chevy malibu classic? this will be my first time doing this and all manuals advised thus far have proven to be quite vague, and less than helpful. any information you may be able to pass along is much appreciated. thanks!
Search for the engine model ECOTec 2.2 rather then Malibu. It is very easy to replace the plugs, they are DEEP inside the engine so you will need a 6" socket extension for the spark plug socket. Needle nose pliers were required to retrieve the socket on the first plug. Don't push down hard on the plug, just enough to engage the nut. Full screen photo sequence is available at:

i know where the fuse box is i just cant locate the radio fuse
There are 2 fuse panels in car, 1 under hood and the second under drivers side of dash, above hood release area. Radio fuse should be under dash, most likely a blue(15amp) fuse. The fuse panel glossery should be on inside cover of fuse panel or in owners manual under fuses in glossery.

water on floorboard on passenger side I don't think it is from rain.
It could be that the condensation drain line is blocked and backing up into the car - but; it is more likely that your problem is a result of a poorly designed cowl cover over the blower fan for your air conditioner. this is a VERY common problem on 97-03 Grand Prix's as well as Malibu's and Impalas through '04. The other side effect of this is that water draining into the blower fan WILL cause it to fail eventually - this solution eliminates that risk.
Here is the cowl (pictures from an '04 Impala, FYI, but are identical):
You will need to remove it by pulling the retaining clips up - there is 1 on each end, and then one towards the top that has a slot in it. Be careful to not break these or lose them.
Remove the cowl, and underneath you will see the blower fan:
Under the cowl you will see a rubber seal that is indicated by the arrow - this is the poorly designed "drip edge". You can either remove it - or leave it in place; the new diverter will accumulate any moisture captured by this seal and divert it properly.
Here is a picture of the part you need - which can be purchased from any GM dealership for about $4 - the GM part is #15794785. Most dealerships don't stock it - but they can order it for you.
It simply sits in place as noted by the arrows - you'll notice there is a long extension from the left side of the part - this is the "finger gauge" - you want this to be positioned as far towards the left (as your facing the motor, or passenger side) of the vehicle as possible.
Here is a close-up of the gauge to give you perspective on how it should be positioned:
This is a shot of the drain area that the new diverter will use - instead of dumping water into the blower fan like the old design.
Now - for the cowl to fit over the new diverter - you will need to trim a couple of pieces of plastic from the bottom of the cowl - as indicated:
You can simply use a utility knife and a pair of pliers to score and snap these pieces off.
What the underside of your cowl should look like after removing (lines indicate where plastic was removed)
No you can simply replace the cowl, and reinstall the retaining clips - and you are all done.
Hope this helps - be sure to rate it and comment! ;)

The factor-installed remote start stopped working this week on my 04 Malibu Maxx. The lights flash once, but it doesn't even try to crank. Anyone know of a fix? My wife parks in the garage and it's cold!!
Thanks!
Fixed!!! I had several problems with my wife's remote start/lock/unlock/trunk/ panic. First it stopped working, i replaced the battery to find out that the battery holder inside the remote had broken solder at two points. Went to Harbor Freight bought a solder gun for $5 and solder wire for about $2. Once home i soldered the points back together (first time i've ever soldered anything). Put the new battery in and it didn't work. I pulled the whole thing apart and took the circuit board and touched the contacts where the button would have pushed at with a piece of metal. They locked and unlocked the car. So i knew at that point that the rubber thing was jacked. i got some tin foil and 5minute epoxy. Then i clued little tiny squares on the little black Nipples where they would contact the circuit board. Waited 6 minutes and put back together. Found out that if you start the car twice with out puting the key in the ignition you can't use the remote start. After putting the key in the ignition and starting it you reset the system and can remote start again. Dealer wanted 114 for the key remote and 54 to reprogram the remote to the car. I fixed my factory remote for under $20. Hope this helps someone
