2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Questions & Answers
How do you remove the
Push throttle body lever toward the back of the engine. Block it from moving forward. The cable should be loose enough to remove from the pedal. There is a white plastic grommet that needs to pop out of the pedal, this can be done by applying upward pressure on the white grommet with your thumbs and the white grommet will pop out. Slide the cable through the slit at the top of the pedal and it is disconnected.
2004 chevy cavalier it is idling real high
Check your map sensor. Your iac sensor and your throttle body position sensor. Then check vacuum. I'm having a similar problem and I've checked those. Unfortunately I might have a timing issue. Hopefully your problem isn't as big as mine lol
2004 chevy cavalier not starting after changing battery
When taking battery cables loose, I try to use memory saver. Hoping there won't be any problems on start-up? Are you saying the starter motor cranks good, but, won't start? If so, have helper crank it, while you check for spark at the spark plugs--check proper fuel pressure--check fuel injector pulse. If the starter motor won't even crank, then have to check voltage and ground for the starter motor. Any starter testing, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set.
2004 Chevy Cavalier - car cranks over but won't start
Well, let me try to say this without being too offensive.....Your car only quit running on you once. I find it really hard to believe that all of the parts you replaced so far, needed to be replaced to get the engine running again. It is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY that all of these "failures" would occur all at the same time. You would rather pay for $500+ in parts that the car apparently did not need, than to pay to have it towed to a shop where they have the knowledge, training and equipment necessary to properly diagnose the vehicle and get it running again? And now you want someone to tell you what is causing the problem with your vehicle without the benifit of any diagnostic testing? There is NO WAY that ANYONE can accurately tell you what is wrong with your vehicle without following the correct diagnostic procedures recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The most anyone can do online without proper diagnosis and testing is GUESS! You seem to be doing that very well on your own.
2004 Chevrolet Cavalier with rough idle.
Question edited for clarity, maker, and typos.
Question moved to sub category.
Jeff is right on this one.
Replacing the plugs may have helped, but it could be the coil pack on that cylinder.
Rough Idle is often a dirty throttle body and MAF.
You can't 'bypass' a catalytic converter. There are sensors both sides of it that are involved in fuel / air delivery. Whilst you had the Catalytic converter off, you could have soaked it in a bucket of hot soapy water overnight and unclogged it, then flushed it with a high pressure hose and put it back. Then run a couple of bottles of Duraclean over the next month. At the moment you are flooding the engine with gas because the ECM has no idea what is going on with fuel and air mixture. You must have the Engine Malfunction Light on and diagnostic codes?

How can I remove headrest?
Press the locking buttons and slide upwards. You can't remove them completely though. They are there to save you getting a broken neck in an accident or if the airbag goes off, it will break your neck over the back of the seat. It is an important part of your safety equipment. Don't remove it.
