1999 Chevrolet Blazer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do you preset radio stations
If you have buttons on your radio that allow you to switch stations, it generally is simply a matter of pressing and holding the button in place for 10-15 seconds. The year, make, and model of the vehicle doesn't say much, as vehicle may have an aftermarket radio. Just find the station you want and if there is a are button presets, just push and hold it in. On most of my cars, old and newer that I have owned, confirmation of the setting is generally accompanied by a beep. Good luck! JD
1999 Blazer gear selector
The standard instrument cluster contains a microprocessor. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) microprocessor communicates with other controllers in the vehicle over the Class 2 serial data bus. The information passed over the Class 2 bus, along with direct external connections to other controllers and devices provides the inputs that are used to operate all of the gauges and the illuminated displays in the cluster. Some displays and gauges are operated directly by external sources (devices or controllers) and others are under software control of the IPC. As the IPC microprocessor runs the operating software, the microprocessor continuously processes Class 2 data in order to determine the correct values and states to display.
PRNDL Indicator (Park Reverse Neutral Drive Low)
The PRNDL display is a variable function electronic display located in the IPC. The PRNDL display is capable of displaying PRND321. The display electronically illuminates, or lights the back of the desired character in order to indicate the gear selection in the transmission. The IPC controls the PRNDL by use of the Class 2 messages that are received from the PCM/VCM. The vehicles with automatic transmissions have an electronic park reverse neutral drive low (PRNDL) range indicator. The system uses the signals from the neutral safety back up (NSBU) switch on the side of the transmission. Signals from this switch determine which LED is in the electronic PRNDL will light. The system is electronic. No internal adjustment is needed. Refer to Transmission/Transaxle for diagnostic information.
1999 Chevy Blazer backfires inside the engine and
in order for the engine to pop back in the intake it has to be firing when an intake valve is open. The best place to start would probably be the distributor cap replacement.the toughest part of this job is the smal torx bit screws on the cap and not breaking the distributor. the screws were threadlocked ,and the distributor is made of plastic.be careful not to over tighten.
The truck won't start, Fuel
Check that the Idle air controller is not faulty, disconnect it and start the truck again, if the truck starts (running poorly) then replace the IAC.
When it Rains, My 1999
it could be the distributor cap is not sitting correctly, lay a piece of sandpaper down on a flat surface and place the cap on top and rub it round a few times, this should help it seat better, only other thing i can think is the icm might have a crack in it and damp is getting in this will stop a spark being made. if it is you can clean the crack and fill with liquid bonding glue, dont matter what type just leave it to dry for 12 hours and keep filling with the glue till its spelled the crack, when dry it should work fine in all weather.
Why the engine starts, runs about 5 second, dies and then won't start, if you wait 10 minutes it starts and runs fine, this happens once every few weeks/months or twice in one day, no set pattern. hav
I saw what you replaced, didn't see any testing? What testing have you done? Make sure battery has a full charge?
When the problem is ongoing, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?
If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems.
I have a 99 blazer
A great place to start would be a tuneup. Plugs and wires, cap and rotor. If the check engine light is on, have the codes read. Places like Autozone and Advance auto parts will do this for you for free. Their hope is that you will buy parts from them.
