2006 Chevrolet Equinox - Page 6 Questions & Answers
My 2006 Equinox won't start.
First question is: Is the battery really fine? Turn on the headlights and see if they stay on while trying to crank the engine.
If they stay on on then yes, the batttery is fine and the problem is likely your starter solenoid.
if not, then you may have a dead cell or two in the battery that provide enough power to light up your interior and run accessories, but cannot turn the engine over. Hope this helps you find the issue. Cliff
Mis fire on cyclinder one and overheating for an 2005 Chevrolet equinox
You are describing the classic symptoms of a blown head gasket from the cylinder into the water jacket. This causes loss of compression in the affected cylinder and also injects hot gases into the cooling jacket resulting in overpressure and overheating of the coolant. Perform a compression check of all cylinders and if any are appreciably lower than the others, you are looking at some major engine work.
Why has my passenger side wiper stopped working?
It may have come off the arm that cycles the arm back and forth. You would have to remove the vent screen around the wipers. Once inside check the arm. Usually, it just pops on but, check to see how it is connected. You may find a replacement if you need one online or at a junk yard. The dealer will try and sell you both, which is not necessary and will increase your replacement cost many fold
Overheating
Did you replace the thermostat as well? That could be your problem. Also make sure your radiator and reservoir are full.
How to replace bearing in rear drum on a 2006 chevy equinox
You need to use a bearing press to get it out and the new one in. You can try to hammer it out with a piece of pipe if you can catch onto the lip. Sometimes wheel bearings get very stuck and if it scores or damages the drum on the way out you may need to get a new drum. If you don't have the tools you might be able to rent or borrow a press from a shop or auto parts store. If you take it to a brake shop and have them press out the bearing and put in the new one it shouldn't cost that much.
