The battery light in my ford excursion is staying
The battery light is an indication that your battery is not being charged by your alternator. Usually this is a defective alternator which needs to be replaced - if you have had it checked for output and it is within range, if the alternator drive belt is in good condition and correctly tensioned so that it is not slipping and the alternator rotates properly, then there must be a break in the charging circuit. If you are lucky this could be a loose connection at the alternator which would be relatively easy to fix otherwise you will need a vehicle electrical specialist to trace and fix the issue. (Disconnecting the battery on any running vehicle will always cause it to stop.)

Turn off the interior lights in 04 Excursion w/ back doors open?
If you wait long enough, the lights will turn off by themselves. Or if you turn the ignition back to accessories setting (ACC) and the radio should stay on and the interior lights should go off. Let me know at FixYa if I can be of further assistance. Thank you.

Dome lights won't shut off
Have you checked the dimmer knob for the dashboard lights? If the 2006 Fords are like my (a bit older) Fords, then turning the dashboard lights to the brightest setting will turn on the dome light. Just turn the knob a bit to the left and the dome lights should turn off.

Ford excursion bad starter noise
check that the pinion teeth is the same pitch as the starter motor that you took out . That is the only reason for the noise unless you have not refitted the motor correctly and it is out of alignment.
