Where does the camshaft position sensor set on this motor?

Under the power steering pump. You will have to remove the pump first. Should only need an 8 mm wrench and a screwdriver to replace the sensor. Good luck.

Why does my 1999 chevy malibu headlights turn on by them self in middle of night

You have a gremlin ! No , just kidding . No it's not the ignition switch ! The headlamps right an left have there own fuse in the under hood fuse box . LH HDLP - RH HDLP . Power direct to the head lamps an they ground through the headlamp switch when placed in high or low beams . Next time they come on wiggle the headlamp switch an see if they go out ! Does your vehicle have auto lights ? Day time running lamps ? The BCM - body control module controls Automatic lamp control ! Battery voltage is applied to the headlamp bulbs at all times. The headlamps are controlled by supplying the ground for the lamps through the turn/headlamp switch assembly or the body control module (BCM). When the turn/headlamp switch is in the ON position, the ground is supplied through CKT 150. The BCM controls the daytime running lamps (DRL). The system allows the headlamps to operate at a reduced intensity under the following conditions: ?€¢ The engine is running.

?€¢ The transaxle is not in the PARK position.

?€¢ The normal headlamps are turned OFF.

The BCM activates the system by grounding CKT 592. This action energizes the DRL relay. This condition allows a reduced voltage to flow to the headlamps. When the headlamp switch is turned to ON, the headlamps operate normally. The parking brake provides an input to the BCM. When the parking brake is engaged, the DRL remain disabled until the parking brake is disengaged.

What are the Torque Specs on the Head Bolts

The reference I found was bolts to 40 lb-ft in sequence. I always like to reach the final torque value in 2 or 3 passes to make sure I'm tightening everything down evenly. Then turn all bolts an additional 90 degrees in sequence. 25596612-mupp5lgphws4tmzw1rllkedg-2-0.jpg

1999 Chevrolet Malibu just purchased with 90,804 miles on it. Heater fails to turn on, then intermittently after driving 15-20mins. While heater is inoperative, rear window defrost, AC & all power w

Wild guess a loose wire but occasionally hits the connection or shorts to a hot (12vdc) supply. Or a bad wire to "connector" connection. Intermittent problems are hard to solve. You will need to look carefully at the related controls and location to see if you can find what I describe. It is possible the problem is elsewhere in the wiring system. Just takes time to hunt down. Just purchased? from dealer? I'd take it back ask them to "hunt". If from individual, that's probably why you got a "good?" deal. I'd still go back and ask them to fix, "nicely". You may get lucky and be able to find the problem. Sounds like issue is on the supply to the switches for all the problem devices. Could be as simple as a fuse or connections to this "circuit" to and or from the fuse. I'd start first with the fuse that serves this circuit. Fuse cover should tell you which fuse is for what device/s. Hope this helps and it turns out simple.

I have a 99 Malibu with a 3100 V6 that will not start, the fuel pump primes constanly and there is pressure at the schrader valve. It's getting spark but will not fire. Any help would be great!

Try the fuel pressure regulator. Check the pressure specs and see if it is within limits. Too much or too little will cause your problem. Good Luck!!!!

How to remove center console on 1999 malibu because automatic shifter is real loose?

There is two screws under the tray in the console. also, check around the shifter knob for a small square with a removable cover or plug. this is a shifter release button that can be engaged with a pen or toothpick. this answer is for a 1998 malibu but it might be the same as a 1999 malibu.

White smoke usually means oil in the mixture somewhere. Could be a head gasket issue. I'd see a local mechanic.

Check your fuses, your main power source has failed somewhere. Sounds like it is grounding out. Retake your foot steps and see where you hooked up all your wires. Also check your fuel pump pressure and check your spark. Make sure it is strong. For you to have lost all power, I would check all my fusible links all the way to the starter.
