2000 Dodge Durango - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a 2000 dodge durango slt 5.9
The transmission will not go in to reverse could it be the band's needs adjusted?
Do you mean the shift lever itself won't go into the R position, or it doesn't move backwards when in R. I've never owned a Dodge so I'm not positive on the shift pattern. At any rate, you should first check that the linkage is correctly adjusted. Then you might consider doing a tranny service (drain tranny, remove pan and clean it, replace filter, fluid etc.) For some reason the transmissions in the '90's - early 2000's were notoriously poor products with a high failure rate. If you get a Chilton/Haynes repair manual that covers the make/model/year of you truck it has troubleshooting tips, and how to do the tranny service.
Have a 2000 dodge durango w/new batter, blower all lights work but battery wont take charge??????????????????????
If you have changed the battery, have it load tested to make sure it is not defective.
A tech can also check the voltage output and regulator. I am assuming you have already had these two check done as well as ECM error codes. The PCM, powertrain control module would be my next component to have checked. A dealership should have the software to check this. I believe that the OEM part runs around $8 to $900.00 dollars. You may be able to get an aftermarket replacement for around $200, but once installed electrical components are not returnable. Do not get stranded somewhere, have a dealship check this problem out!
Headlights keep shutting off
What is the build year and make of the vehicle. Also does it have auto headlamps? Hard to say without that info.
The od light comes on the the transmission temp warning comes on in my 2000 dodge durango
Check transmission fluid level. Is there a manual Overdrive engagement button? If so you probably have a worn out wire from the switch to overdrive solenoid. I had a similar problem different car. Solution was the "spiral plastic" wire cover to cover the opening on the control wire and easy to get on the wire without having to cut and rejoin wires. Was supposed to be temporary but has lasted about 5 years. This may also be the issue with the Temp warning light. The wires may be parallel to each other. Hope this helps, good luck.
What causes the idle to flex on a 2000 dodge durango?
Hi John, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in Missouri
I look forward to helping you with your problem!
Engine fluctuation happens for several reason, "Vacuum Leaks, Defective Sensors, Fuel Pressure Issues. Here's what I need you to do first. Get a can of carb-cleaner and spray around the intake manifold and throttle body and see if the engine speed changes, if not. The next common problem is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Here's what I want you to do. Start the engine and while idling tape on the TPS and see if the engine speed changes, if it does change the TPS, it's only help on with to TORK SCREWS. Shift into drive i have no low gears or overdrive
Sounds like you lost a few gears in your transmission.
I would have it looked at by a shop.
It might be cheaper to find a good used transmission, and have it swapped into your truck rather than spend much more on a new one.
