2000 mustang gt. The theft light is on and wont

you have to have the keys programed into the PCM again. Did you replace anything prior to this problame. If you replace the PCM, Instrument Cluster or PATS you have to take the car to the dealer to have the three systems synced back to each other. if you haven't replaced anything it is just a matter of the key is not being recognized. you will need to keys to perform the key programing and it can be done by a lock smith.

2000 mustang gt. The theft light is on and wont

When the car is off, a slowly flashing anti-theft light is normal. When the key is in one of the on positions, that light should go off. If it thinks it detects a theft condition, the light will flash quite rapidly and prevent starting. You can also check the mileage readings in the odometer display. If you see dashes instead of numbers, that is a clue that some part of the onboard computer has gone wacky. You already tried one of the steps that I would recommend (unlocking the door, though that may not be enough by itself. Here are a couple of things to try. First, pray that this isn't the anti-theft computer gone awry. That is uber expensive to replace. Following that prayer ... Verify that the battery is fully charged and showing about 12.8 volts with the headlights off and about 12 volts with headlights on. If the voltages are low, try jumping the battery to see if you can get it to start. (A low battery can occasionally cause an anit-theft fault.) If you have another key, try that one. The chip in the first key may have gone bad. If that doesn't work ... Disconnect the battery negative cable for 5 minutes. Reconnect, and lock and unlock the doors several times with the remote. Check to see if the anti-theft light is still flashing rapidly. If not, try starting. Anything more than these steps will need to be handled by a qualified shop. (For example, a wire in the steering column could be damaged by the tilt mechanism, or the computer malfunctioning). Good luck.

Engine turns but does not start, seems like no spark to cylinders.

Your chipped key is not making a good connection to your factory installed anti-theft device. Lightly grease both sides of car key with electric bulb grease and work it into key ignition. Over time the key wears down, contacts in ignition switch become worn and corroded. Grease makes better contact...chipped key is able to send signal to factory anti-theft device which unlocks all systems required to start you engine. Make sure the key you are using is a chipped key for your car; not a un-chipped cut key from the key cutting machine. It will work on locks, but only a chipped key for your car will deactivate your anti-thief and you get power to your engine and systems to get it started.

Car won't start anti-theft light is blinking

try reseting the computer by leaving the battery unhooked for about 30 min. if that doesnt work then it may be a clogged fuel filter or you could check the fuel shut off switch in the trunk behind the drivers trunk panel.

When I go start the car it does nothing

Battery could be dead. (Like maybe an interior light was left on for a long time) Do any lights come on in the dashboard when you turn the ignition key to run or start? Any noises from the starter/solenoid? If not, first place to check is the battery. If you have a battery charger, put it across the battery and see if any lights come on when you turn the key. If you are a member of AAA, call them and they can come out with a new battery and test your battery to see if that is indeed the problem.

I have 2000 mustang 3.8 n it shakes really bad n code p1633 comes back. Whats wrong n how do i fix it

Hello Paige ! It sounds like you have a sick vehicle , lets see if I can help you fix it . Well the code you have has to do with lack of voltage to the ECM -engine control module. P1633 - Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low Indicates that the Keep Alive Power (KAPWR) circuit has experienced a power interrupt.
  • Open KAPWR circuit
  • Damaged PCM
  • Intermittent KAPWR Circuit
2000 PCED On Board Diagnostics II SECTION 5: Pinpoint Tests Procedure revision date: 01/31/2001 QB: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0603/P1605/P1633 > QB: Introduction QB1 CHECK BATTERY TERMINALS
Note: If KAPWR is interrupted to the PCM (that is, when a breakout box is installed or the battery is disconnected), DTC P0603/P1605 can be generated on the first power-up.
  • Inspect the battery cables for loose connections, corrosion.
Are the battery terminal connections in good condition? Yes No KEY OFF. Battery terminals are OK. GO to QB2 . REPAIR battery terminals as necessary. QB2 INSPECT ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOR PROPER WIRE ROUTING
  • Inspect Electronic Engine Control (EC) System wiring for proximity to ignition components or wires.
Is wiring too close to ignition components or wires? Yes No REROUTE as necessary. Engine compartment wire routing is OK. GO to QB3 . QB3 CHECK KEEP ALIVE POWER (KAPWR) TO PCM
Note: Refer to the PCM connector pin numbers in the beginning of this pinpoint test.
  • Disconnect PCM.
  • Measure voltage between KAPWR circuit at the PCM harness connector and ground.
  • While observing digital multimeter, grasp the Electronic EC harness and wiggle, shake or bend a small section while working from the PCM to the dash panel.
Does the voltage reading indicate less than 10.5 volts? Yes No ISOLATE and REPAIR open circuit. No open in KAPWR harness circuit detected. GO to QB4 . QB4 CHECK FOR REPEAT OF DTC P0603/P1605/P1633
  • Reconnect PCM.
  • Start engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Run Key On Engine Off Self-Test.
  • Retrieve Continuous Memory DTCs.
Is DTC P0603, P1605 or P1633 present? Yes No REPLACE the PCM. REPAIR other DTCs as necessary. If none, testing is complete. You may want to take this to the repair shop , do you own a volt ohm meter ? Do you know how to use one ?

Radio has power but no sound

speakers may be disconnected behind the radio pull it out and look at the back of the radio also check for broken wires on the connector on the outside of the radio and the inside from the electrical outlet on the radio it's also possible that you blew the fuse for the power amp part of the radio you must look at your owners manual for the fuse diagram and power distribution box if you don't have it go to search 2000 ford mustang owners manual to download it free from ford and you'll have what you need also check in the trunk for a broken/disconnected power amp plug if you had a lot of stuff shoved in there that might have become disconnected or broken did it always work and then happen or has it been out since you bought the car?

Why does my brake wire burn in half on my 2000 mustang?

Very strange. If circuit is pulling enough amps to burn up wire, one would expect fuse to blow. Is it possible something else is heating the wire, such as heater vent hose leaking, courtesy lamp bulb too close, other such? Could be that Hot Foot you are driving with, lol.
