There are so many things it could be. The only way to diagnose is with a pro grade scan tool computer which checks all the modules and sensors.

I doubt that changing the fluid will fix this issue...It sounds like the throwout bearing is hanging up on something either due to wear or lack of lubrication (grease), Has it ever been serviced to your knowledge?
Might want to check your spark plugs and ignition coils or rotor/cap, whichever it has. Sounds like its not getting spark to turn engine over possibly. Also the injectors or fuel pump itself. Best of luck!

As long as the battery is safely detached, you may proceed with unplugging the harness and continue your inspection. Disconnecting battery terminals properly can only affect or erase some preset memories like radio stations, audio settings, etc. but it will not hurt the normal operation of the vehicle in general.

It's in the kick panel by the drivers left foot. Take off the cover and there should be a diagram on the inside showing which relay is for the fuel pump.

Checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes should be the first step in the diagnostic procedure . Not at a auto parts store ,because they can not check these code's . check wiring and connections for breaks and corroded connections

If you get under the dashboard on the driverside, you will see more than one relay actually. The one for the rear window defroster is a blue one beding the fuse box. It slides down and you can pull it out and hangs there so that it would be easier to replace. Once replaced slide it back into place. It may be a little tight to slide but is for security. You don't want that sliding back out when your driving but it will be fine if you make sure it slide back into place.
Also check the actual button on the dash
