My rpm are going up and down while driving.
This sounds normal to me. Why do you think there is a problem? If the RPM's are going up and down during acceleration, then I would say there is some sort of slippage. Have the transmission looked at for signs of trouble. Also, check the transmission fluid level for the correct amount. If it is low, find out why it is leaking. Gasket leak?
Key locks don't operate with key when battery is dead
With no juice just what did you expect? to have them work with dead battery do the following:
Get yourself a smaller 12 volt battery and hook the negative to the engine. Then hook up the positive to the positive line that you already have going to your starter under the car. That should send juice through the wires and power the locks when you use the key.
How do I install a air intake filter etc.
There is no cabin air filter for this truck. However, there is an air filter in the black box on the engine intake at the front left part of the engine compartment. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the four screws holing the cover on - the filter is inside.

Check to see if fuel is getting to the filter. Maybe too much dirt in lines & plugged filter? If fuel at filter, put hose in place of filter JUST LONG enough to see if fuel is getting to fuel rail.
After replacing thermostat in my 98' GMC jimmy it still overheats and makes a clanking noise ,...why?
That engine is not known for head gasket problems. I am guessing but you should take a serious look at the water pump. Are you losing coolant? The water pump is not hard to change on that car but you should have a good set of metric and sae tools to work with. Wrenches sockets extensions etc... Also make sure that there is not any scale rust deposits or scale in the water system. If its not clean metal, the deposits work as insulators and do not allow the water to carry away heat. Buy some CLR (Calcium Lime Rust in the gray bottle at walmart or store) before you change the water pump. Drain all coolant, add CLR and fill with water. Bring up to temp while parked and add water as needed. The heat will cause the stuff to work better and it will disolve all the crap in the system and all the crevices of the system. Run the heater full blast because it will clean out your heater core also. (Ive done this on mine) After running for 45 min to an hour to dissolve all the crap, open the pit cock on the bottom of the rad and let the water from the garden hose flow into the rad from up top while engine is running. You have to flush all the CLR out of the system. Let the water flush the entire system good till nothing but clean water remains in the engine. May take 15 to 30 min to get it all washed out. turn off engine, drain water from pit cock on the bottom of rad.Change your waterpump and make sure all hoses belts and gaskets are new. properly tighten and torque all bolts and tentioners.Check instalation and prepare to add the new coolant. Add your 2 to 3 gallons of 50/50 antifreeze water mix into the system till full. Start engine and top off as air surfaces and level in rad drop due to the air coming out of the block. Let vehicle come up to temperature and make sure system builds pressure with all caps in place. Check for leaks. Only after you have verified its not overheating or displaying any problems should you take it for a test drive. Stick close to home. Use good judgement. Good Luck
Coming home jimmy slowed down by itself to a stop. engine runs but it wont move in any gear
Did you look underneath for leaks ,check the dipstick?
Sounds like you are completely out of transmission fluid which does not sound good .
Adding SeaFoam probably didn't help either if it was already low or leaking ,never trust those supposed bottled leak sealers !
Hopefully you didn't drive it too far ,if you haven't I would have it towed home and fill it up with tranny fluid a quart at a time ,check it after the second bottle on the dipstick and after every one after until you see any improvement (all the while looking for leaks underneath !! ) Hopefully you haven't burned up your transmission.
No heatcoming heater climate control
Check both hoses coming from firewall. Both should be hot while engine is up to temp. If one is cold, your heater core is clogged. Unhook both hoses from engine, hook garden hose to one hose and blow out the gunk in the core until water turns clear.
Does my 1998 4 door 4wd jimmy have a trans cooler?
The trans cooler is in one of the radiator tanks.All automatics have this.Some vehicles with the bigger motors and transmissions will also have a separate cooler.Some people will install a separate cooler in there vehicles when they do a lot of hauling or trailering.Hope this helps.Good luck.
