I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 exc 4wd at speeds over 50 and it starts to shake and vibrat and really loud what could it be?

Wheel balance problems usually occur at speeds above 40mph. Also check driveline u joints for problems, but these usually show up when taking off and vibration at lower speeds. Check wheel rims for being bent and tires that are free of bumps or out of round.

What years 5.7 engines will fit this truck

Nearly any year will fit, that is, bolt in. But the newer you get, the more complicated the fuel injection and wiring gets! If you want just to use the mechanical end and bolt up your old fuel system, everything thing should work...just check all the accessory mounting brackets to be sure all the holes are there on the engine! If you switch from V-belts to a serpentine drive, you will have to use all the accessories that go with that engine...check compatibility of hoses and electrical plugs. Look over everything very carefully before you do anything, get manuals and info (like wiring diagrams!) to keep track of any changes that need to be made. Chevy is one of the easiest to do this with...it helps if you can have the donor vehicle at your location. If you can't do that, DON'T cut any wires or hoses because you may need them for the swap! GOOD LUCK!

Why does my truck not communicate with the scanner?

in most other models that have an error trying to connect to an obd2 scanner is there's something wrong in the ground circuit in your vehicle. one has to painstakingly trace those grounds to make sure they're clean/ not corroded... then go from there

On my 98 silverado hasslow cranking moter or it just clicks battery charged it dose this but if i jump will start everytime when slow cranking headlights do not dim

Probably time for a new battery. If it is 3-4 years old or older I would lean toward that. Take the truck to your local parts store and have them test the battery out.

You may need to bring it to the chevrolet dealership the control module may have to be calibrated. I would call the dealership and ask them if the control module needs calibration...

Switches for engaging four wheel drive aren't working

I would check the following things first: Fuses/Relays/Solenoids If everything inline is good, then replace the switches. Your truck IS hitting sixteen years old now, so it really could be anything in the line from the switches to the transfer case.

When light switch is off only 3rd brake light work. When switch is on the back lights are stuck on. 3rd light operate normal.

First off if you dont tow trailers start on the double filiment bulbs check for burn out
Second if you tow trailers or removed spare tire from under bed you probably loosen a ground wire on the wire harness under bed
Simple to fix once found
Tools need test light with ground gator clip
Rock for pressing brake pedal down or second helper on brakes
And a battery jumper
More than likely a wire pulled out harness on its back end
I had same problem it happened to be a pulled ground
150 miles from no where midnight cop pulls me over after he left got under truck moved some wires it came on then went off
It just needed to be pushed in little further in harness
Used a nail and glow of phonepushed in drove home
This wire problem for me was cause i bought new fuel pump removed bed forgot a ground wire it pulled out

Why is my truck idling and running so ruff? But when I un plug the MAF it runs fine

Vacuum leaks. Check hoses. Also check the intake manifold at the gasket. To check the intake (have the MAF plugged in) Spray some wd40 around the intake at the gasket seal. If the engine starts running fine at some point. Replace the intake manifold gasket.

Why is my truck ideling and running so ruff ? But when I unplug the MAF it runs fine

Check your wiring harness and connector for defects, and have your MAF checked for integrity. Sounds like the sensor is sending a bad signal to the ECM when plugged in and the ECM automatically switches to default over ride when it sends no signal.

Why wont start

Ok well there is only two things that make a combustion engine run! If you are getting gas to the fuel rail and it has adequate fuel pressure at the rail then you have a spark problem! Pick up a spark tester( looks like a plug wire in a way but has a light ) Plug it into the first plug on the right side of the motor,(# 1 cylinder) and have a friend turn over the motor. There should be positive spark and the light indicator should light as a constant . If it is intermittent in any way than spark is why u will not start. Then on these years I always start with a new coil or coil packs depending on your type of engine! Hope this helps!! Just my opinion and I could be wrong ! Good luck. Replaced battery twice, replaced altenator, had Auto Zone check charging system but after a week or two truck will not crank if left sitting for a day or two, what else do i need to do?

Sounds like you either have a light staying on in the glove box or under the hood. If that's not it, then you may have a relay that does not turn off. This sucks because there is so many of them and finding it can be tricky
