How to reset security alarm on 98 firebird

The security, antitheft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Can I just put my new chip in my old key for my 98 firebird

No, it has to be programmed by a locksmith to make it work in your vehicle. Call a locksmith and get it cared for so you can drive your toy. About $100 is what I last paid for this service, and I can fix anything. May as well do it ya know.

HOW TO DO A 10 MINUTE RESTART ON 98 FIREBIRD

You can't do that on your vehicle ! What problem are you having ? Security light lit on the dash ? Lost key ? Probably need ignition lock cylinder , when you stick the key into the lock cylinder there are contacts inside that read the resistor on the side of the key > These contacts wear out , wires break . You can buy a new lock cylinder , if that is the problem or buy a resistor of same value at radio shack an solder it into wire harness . There are videos on youtube on how to do it.

How to reprogram your key on a 1998 firebird

There is no programming or relearn for that vehicle. Unlike some of the newer passlock and passkey systems, your VATS system is not something that can be reset. It either works... or not. You may have a bad key, ignition, or theft deterrent module. You will need to find the failed part or bypass the system entirely. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/ 26218866-dbqhgjbjikzcaejsbhaiknrq-5-0.jpg Do It Yourself GM Security bypass

What wire can i cut behind the sterio for the antitheft fuelpump cutoff

There is no wire you can cut ,doing this will make your vehicle never start . The Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key II?®) is standard equipment on the vehicle. The system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the engine unless an ignition key with a specific electrical resistance is used in the ignition cylinder. The PASS-Key II?® system and the universal theft deterrent operate separately. The universal theft deterrent system is optional. The PASS-Key II?® system includes the following components: ?€¢ The ignition key

?€¢ The ignition cylinder

?€¢ The body control module (BCM)

?€¢ The starter relay

?€¢ The powertrain control module (PCM)
