Hey Anon, NO, its not the distributor,, more than likely is the/a coil..(unless the coil is built into the distributor)...

does your model have abs, is the abs light on test the the system. do this by turning on all the lights have everything on and drive and look at the speedo to see if it jumps of moves. this can indicate the speedo board is damaged.. does you model have a sun roof, this is because when the sunroof is open it tells the ecu and compensates for the roof being open. this can also add to the turning on the lights etc to test. do these and get back to this question.

Josh, Code 55 for your Altima simply means no faults were found/no malfunction. Do you mean car would not crank(engine not turning over) or did you mean engine will crank, but not start.
