Engine codes 12 and 32

Code 12 - Memory standby power recently lost - Possible CausesBattery or power line recently disconnected - This code is normal if the electrical system has been worked on or the battery has recently been disconnected. It will be removed after 15 ignition switch on/off cycles.Low system voltage, bad battery or battery terminals - If the system recently had a power drop (due to a dead battery or bad alternator), this code will appear. If the battery terminals are bad and the engine was jumped, this code will appear. See the Diagnosing Your Charging System page for more information.Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the battery, power module, and logic module (or SMEC). Check all fusible links and power connectors to the battery. Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts.Code 32 - Logic module did not see a change in air/fuel ratio when EGR circuit was activated - Possible CausesEGR valve stuck open or closed - If the vehicle fails emmisions, then the valve may be shut. If the enigne runs poorly at low rpm or at idle, the valve may be stuck open. It may be the valve or the transducer valve. Test the transducer valve vacuum output. At idle, the transducer valve vacuum should be mostly bled, and there should be very little, if any vacuum at the output. When the engine is revved, the vacuum should increase. If the transducer is functioning properly, replace the EGR valve.Bad EGR solenoid or Canister purge/EGR solenoid - The solenoid is located in the right, front fender next to one to three other solenoids. See the Understanding Solenoids page for information about how to test and repair solenoids.Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the solenoid and the logic module (or SMEC). Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Power steering

Check the level of fluid in the power steering pump reservoir, if it is really low you have a leak, if the leak is repaired and the pump still whines then you will need to replace the power steering pump.

1999 Olds Silhouette -- Problem -

The ABS light is on because there is a fault in the abs system, The traction control uses the abs system so it will also not work if the abs is not working. You'll need to scan the ABS module to see what code is stored in its memory. Once you have the code you'll have a better idea of what needs to be repaired. How to remove serpentine belt

Depending on what type of vehicle you have you may be able to insert a 1/2" drive ratchet into the arm on your tensioner pulley and push down it will take the pressure off and the serpentine belt will slide right off.

I need to see a picture of the fuse box for a 2001 olds silhoette

Which fuse box are you wanting a picture of? There are 2. One is in the engine compartment and one is in the right end of the dash panel. Both of these will have diagrams on the insides of the lids. Both are also covered in the Owner's Manual. So, what are you trying to fix?

Overheating, allready change the temp sensor, problem remains

When it's overheating feel the upper and lower hoses. If the upper is hot and the lower is cold you have no flow. The most likely cause would be a stuck thermostat. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!
