Where is the coolant senser located on engine
The coolant sensor is most often located very near to the thermostat as it gives the best true indication of engine temperature. On many vehicles it is mounted in the thermostat housing. This can be located by following the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine.
Ticking sound
several possible issues. old cars most likely have valve issues. before spending a lot of money - 1. check to make sure the belts are not frayed and any loose strands cut off - they can also make a ticking sound. 2. you can buy a thicker oil additive at a parts store - if that works, then you need to take it to a mechanic for a valve adjustment. be prepared for bad news, if the car is 20 yrs old, it may be time for retirement.
A/c
Your best bet is to carefully check the wiring schematic and follow the clutch activation wire from the clutch to your HVAC control panel - schematic is available in the service manual, which you can find at Alldatadiy.com.
Where is map senser located
I don't list a map sensor being used on a 1987 Olds with the 3.8 engine. It should have a MAF sensor instead.
