Ran out of gas, car wouldn't crank replaced fuel pump, fuel relay, and in line fuel filter and still won't crank on 2002 chevy avalanche
still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

2002 chevy avalanche hesitates when accelrating and check engine light starts blinking
THE BLINKING MEANS THERE IS A MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE CAUSING CONVERTER DAMAGE. NOT SURE KNOWING WHAT MOTOR YOU HAVE IF ITS THE 4.2 THERE IS A CAM SENSOR ON THE PASS SIDE FRONT OF THE HEAD THAT GM HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH. FIND A PLACE THAT WILL PULL THE DTC CODE FOR YOU. VERIFY ITS A MISFIRE AND/OR CAM SENSOR CODE, IF IT IS REPLACE THE CAM SENSOR. YOU HAVE TO REPOSITION THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO REMOVE AND INSTALL THE SENSOR

I have a 2002 Chevy avalanche idles at or below 500rpm runs lean and spark plugs driver side are black
While more of a comment than a solution, have you checked the computer for codes? If there is a issue with the ECM (Electronic Control Module) the On Board Diagnostic system should tell you exactly what the problem is. It almost sounds like you have a clogged air filter and it is choking the engine down. However, if it is not a clogged filter, you could have a defective O2 Sensor. The Avalanche has 4 sensors. One before and after the converter on each side. These sensors tell the computer how to adjust the air/fuel ratio. Good Luck!

My 2002 chev. diesel truck turns over but wont start, new filter
anytime you change the filter in a diesel you have to bleed the air out of the fuel system. The pump won't auto bleed the fuel system for you. every place in the fuel system that has a flare type connection needs to be bleed, start at the connection closest to the tank, loosen the connection and then crank the engine until you see diesel fuel drips from that connection. Tighten the connection while the engine is still cranking. Move to the next connection that is going toward the engine. Continue on in that manner toward the engine until you reach the injector pump/injector. Once you reach the injector pump be VERY aware that the fuel is at VERY high pressure. Do NOT put your body parts in the stream of high pressure diesel fuel. It could kill or injure you! Once you bleed all the way to the injector pump/ injector, the truck SHOULD start. Do not bleed after the injector pump because of the pressure involved, it is WAY too dangerous.
Good luck!

Fuel pump failure
Has the power supply been checked as constant and spike free?Have you opened up the pump to determine exactly why it failed as that would give you an area to explore. Also make sure the pressure relief valve is working at the fuel rail correctly.check that fuel return line is free and clear

Fuel pump in gas tank how to repair?
your fuel pump is pretty steep price wise but its not a hard fix been that it's not a car.You have two straps holding the tank, disconnect the positive battery, separate the rubber hose from the tank neck, with the help of a buddy place a hydraulic jack under the tank lower slowly until you disconnect the electrical wires. Once tank is down with a flat head screw driver gently tap the ring anticlockwise once removed take out fuel pump assembly install reverse order.
