it's never a good idea to put a bigger fuse it will only heat the wiring and could cause a fire.Find out the short circuit to ground , cut wire to fuse and replace the wire to see if the wire was the problemif not locate wich component is fuse by the one blown out.

Same problem with my 02 Northface - both sides now. Had right isde fixed and it came back worse. Now that it is over 100K miles, Chevy won't help. Only perm solution is the fender replacement.

sounds like the tumbler is bad, try to replace it yourself , if you have an electronic chip in your key you have to go to dealer to get it installed. cheapest way to fix this is order a new locking tailgate handle from jc whitney or somewere and replace the whole thing.
