Trac. off light comes on and goes out after awhile.....

Its possibly a dirty,or bad connection on the traction sensor. Locate the sensor, inspect and clean. Dielectric ointment helps on the electrical plug before plugging back together. Brake clean,to clean plug, sensor.

I Have 1999 Oldsmobile alero Misfire on cylinder 1 can the spark plugs and wire the coil pack on1 and a new fuel filter and it still misfiring should i change the ignition coil module

That won't help. If firing good other cylinders, then the module is good. It could be an injector problem. You need to check the spark on #1. Make sure it is sparking good, then look for air/fuel mixture problem-bad injector or something else in that cylinder affecting the air/fuel mixture so it doesn't fire good. Maybe a valve not sealing- need a compression test to check that.

My heater only works some of the time and my rear defrost dont work what could be the problem

As by heat only works some of the time , you mean it doesn't blow air out of the vent's . This means you probably have a problem with the blower motor or blower motor resistor or blower motor relay . Rear Window Defogger Inoperative
Exchange the rear defogger relay with a known good relay from the under hood junction block.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Press the rear defogger switch to the ON position.
Does the rear defogger grid warm? -- Yes Go to Step 2 NO Go to Step 3 2 Replace the faulty relay. Is the repair complete? Go to Defogger System Check -- 3

Security light is in 1999 Oldsmobile Alero but car seems to be running OK

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/ 26123658-n0ruldykmagyusv0wgntwhg0-2-0.png

How to fix a leak that seems to be coming from the water pump or A/C?

No, that sounds like the water pump pulley. Loosen the 4 bolts with the serp. belt still on, then remove belt, and remove the pulley and the 4 bolts. Drain the coolant, and now you can remove and replace the water pump. It is not fixable, it must be replaced. Be sure and clean the mating surface of old gasket material and dirt, grease, etc. YouTube should have lots of videos on water pump replacement, maybe one for Aleros.
