4wd is
computer controlled NP-136 transfer case, which works more like traction control. The Bravada was now run in RWD in normal operations, and only when wheel slip was detected did the SmartTrak engage AWD
The NP136 transfer cases was manufactured with electrical shift encoder motors, this unit has two different drive ranges 2 high and 4WD (run at reduced speeds) with the front output drop on the driver side. This unit has a 27 spline front output and utilizes a rear slip yoke.
if you have purchased your car used the very first order of business is to double check the tire diameters.
Used car dealers may have mismatched size the tires to make the sale. Mismatched tires will cause the NP136 transfer case to fail. The NP136 transfer case unit has a couple of problems, it utilizes a viscous coupler clutch system that can fail. One way to recognize this failure mode is clicking sounds when turning on dry asphalt or concrete surfaces. Viscous coupler failure is attributed to excessive heat build up. The second problem is that the oil circulation pump on NP136 can wear a hole in the case, we provide a transfer case saver to prevent this from happening. Once you have a hole in the case fluid will be lost and the case will fail. Don't leave home without our case saver, it's only a matter of time. Recommended fluid for the NP 136 transfer case is GM part number 12378396.

It's a lot of work just to get at the diverter doors/actuators on the HVAC plenum under the dash, as they are near the center of the vehicle. Check YouTube to see a typical view (e.g. for a Blazer or Jimmy)..

Automatic Transfer Case
The single speed automatic transfer case system shifts automatically from rear wheel drive to four wheel drive when the transfer case shift control module (TCSCM) senses the difference in rotation speed of the front propeller shaft and the rear propeller shaft . Two vehicle speed sensors, one located at the rear output shaft area of the transfer case, and the other, located at the front output shaft area of the transfer case, send front and rear propeller shaft rotation speed information to the TCSCM.
When the front and rear output shaft rotations remain the same, the TCSCM sends pulse width modulation signals to the encoder/motor to keep the transfer case in rear wheel drive. When the front and rear output shafts rotations are different, the shift control module sends pulse width modulation signals to the encoder/motor to engage the transfer case into four wheel drive.
The system will automatically transfer a percentage of torque to either the front or rear axles as required to stop all wheel slip. When the front and rear output shafts rotations return to the same speed rotation, the shift control module sends pulse width modulation signals to the encoder/motor to position the transfer case back into rear wheel drive.
When the transfer case is engaged into four wheel drive, a lamp indicator on the instrument cluster will light. The automatic transfer case system is completely automated, no transfer case control button switching system is required.

The heater blows hot air
AC not working?
on a hot day it will blow warm/hot air if the AC is turned off or not working
If its hot air and AC is working then i would start by checking the fuse or relay. if its not the fuse/relay then i would look into the heater box there is a door that blocks the hot air
1998 bravada
Do you have a 4WD Bravada? Or an AWD? If it is AWD, there is no shifting. It is in 4WD Drive all the time.
Do you have something on the dash that allows you to change from 2WD to 4WD HI/Lo? Is so, then check your fuses in the fuse box. You may just have a blown fuse.
