1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme electrical problem
I am having the same problem with my 1994 Olds Cutlass. The connection between the ignition and the starter is malfunctioning, and the car will not start. One moment is was fine, the next it won't start. Were you able to resolve the problem on your Cutlass?
1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme: My battery keeps
I don't think there's a timer on your '94. It sounds like one of the door switches is stuck or not functioning. Try putting fuse back in. and opening and closing one door at a time to see if you can determine which door switch is bad. They are easily replaced. (Wintertime would make the switch operate even less optimally.)
All lights work except head lights after I changed
Is your headlight switch on the steering column, or on the dash? If it's the column, you may not have connected them back up good. If on the dash, you could check for a burned "fusible link" right aroun d the battery connections. If that looks alright, and you are sure the bulbs are good, then you might need a new headlight switch. Did they just go out after you changed turn signal switch? Your dimmer switch is on that same switch, I believe. Recheck your connections. Hope this helps.
Tensioner pulley broke
Need to get a new or used one for replacement. It's an easy fix. Also check your belt. You might need a new one. And before you put belt on, check all your pulleys that belt runs for proper (free-wheeling) operation. If another pulley froze up, it could cause your tensioner to malfunction.
Power door locks do not operate properly. When I
I've heard it can be done with some difficulty. You'll probably have to remove your rear seats, or at least the bottom seat portion, to get the inside panel off. Usually, the easy fix for troublesome door locks is a good cleaning, and a little light oiling. That one on the rear should be checked for operation when you get to it.
How to install side view mirrow
You can blame it on your significant other, blame it on the kids or blame it on someone hitting it in the crowded parking lot. Whatever the reason, the side view mirror on your car is broken, missing or hanging by a thread. It's not that hard to replace. With a few common household tools, you can replace it yourself in less than 30 minutes. Forget the body shop or service station; they're going to charge you more in labor than you paid for the part online. How to Install Side View Mirrors1.Open the door wide and roll the window all the way down so you don't damage it.2.Locate the plastic molding on the opposite side of the rear view mirror at the very front corner of the door's window. It'll probably be black plastic triangular-shaped molding, but it may have the same hue as the interior of the vehicle.3.Gently but firmly pry that triangular molding off with the screwdriver. It's only snapped into place and there's usually a small ridge or lip that seats down into the window cavity. This ridge/lip should be no more than a quarter of an inch into the cavity. Pry it from a couple of spots until it comes free.4.Locate the wire harness and unplug the mirror if it is an electric-powered mirror.5.Locate the three nuts inside the cavity of the door. There may be some foam plugs or insulation you'll need to move out of the way, but you can replace them after you install the new mirror.6.Remove the nuts with the ratchet, extension and appropriate-sized socket. Be careful not to drop them into the door cavity.7.Remove the old mirror and install the new one.8.Tighten all three nuts. Plug the mirror into the harness if it is a powered one and test it before you close everything upThank you for using FixYa hope this will help your problem and don't forgetto rate me.thanks,Josefina
I I have lost drive
& third gear in my 94
Well, problems with automatics are why there are so many auto transmission shops. There are hardly any shadetree mechanics and not that many ASE-certified mechanics who feel confident enough and knowledgeable enough to tear down and rebuild an automatic. And, very likely, that's what your ****** requires. One question: how long has it been out, and are you familiar with how a transmission starts to "slip" in the gears before it goes entirely? If it just started, you might want to try a fluid and filter change(drop your transmission pan, drain fluid, change filters{its right there after dropping pan}, new pan gasket, and re-install pan). Really about all the average person can do is checking the fluid to make sure it's full in an automatic. Any problems usually require a trip to a shop.
How to change freezeout plug on fire wall side of
Tough spot to get at ,they make an expandable plug that you may get to work, rubber with a steel washer .Tightens with an open end wrench or an allen head, Never get a metal plug in from there, problem is.. The rest of the plugs are most likely to follow. Really should pull the motor and change 'em all. there are 2 behind the flywheel also.
Have a 94 Olds Supreme, I've read the way to
Get a stiff wire, a coat hanger works, and go in through that opening on window. It will take a little time with bending and twisting to get the wire hooked around inside door handle, but you can certainly do it. Many times I have wished for an open window, when I had to force a door slightly to get a wire through the door rubber moulding. good luck. and keep trying, if you break the seats to get in, you'll still have to replace it.
I have 94 cutlass supreme i don't know whats
whenever it wants? Bad karma! Seriously, check your connections to the starter and the solenoid on the starter. That's the big (battery) cable to starter, and the small wire (purple, I think) on the solenoid thats on the starter. If they are tight and clean, you could check if 12 volts are registering at the starter with the key on (engine off. just turn key on.), or, just take off your starter and have it tested at like, Autozone. See, Jose? its either your starter or the connections to it. Sometimes a bad ignition switch will cause a no-crank situation, but if your dash lights come on when you turn key on, it's likely your starter. If starter and solenoid are o.k. you'll have to get your starting circuit diagnosed. I'd bet on the starter or solenoid, though.
