The instrument panel lights are dim when I turn the key almost like the car doesn't have enough battery then the fuse blows and no more power.I have replaced the cables, starter, fusible link, battery and ignition switch. I am still having the same problem. Turn the key and the fuse blows. I have went through over 30 fuses trying to get it to start. Does anyone have any ideas?
I am assuming you are talking about the circuit that powers the key switch. I'm showing a fuseable link to the starter relay instead of a fuse.
If it is the circuit that powers the switch, I would disconnect the switch and see if the fuse blows as each circuit is powered one at a time using a jumper wire. You can get 30amp circuit breakers that plug into the fuse slot to use while you are testing circuits.
You may need a repair book or shop manual to find out what is powered by that fuse since it is most everything on the car.

where is the egr valve located on a dodge avenger
The
EGR it's in the back of the Manifold. It may not get clean, you need to
replace it. You would have to take the manifold off and when you do so
remember where were the vacum lines. go back label them

repair inner tie rod end of 1997 dodge avenger
#3 is the inner tie rod and it is simply screwed into each end of the steering rack. Raise and support the car remove the wheel and you should see where it is connected to the outer tie rod. There is a lock nut that you'll need to loosen slightly to get the tie rod off. You will need to get a wheel alignment once done but by slightly loosening the lock nut, you have a good reference of how it should be once done. Once loose, you should be able to turn the tie rod by using a wrench on the flattened area on the rod. Once disconnected from the outer tie rod end, you should be able to remove the dust boot covering the inner tie rod connection. Mine came right apart so hope you have no problems. After you have it out, here is where the loosened locknut comes into play. Put the new and old tie rod side by side, line up the ends that attach to the rack and pinion then mark the new rod so you know how far to put the lock nut on the new tie rod. Simply tightly screw the new one onto the rack and pinion put the boot back, screw on the lock nut to the mark then attach the tie rod to the outer tie rod end up to the lock nut then tighten the lock nut against the outer end. Get the tire back on, lower the car and Voila, done. Now go get an alignment.

I have a 97 dodge avenger. Turn signals do not work. However, hazard lights work perfectly. When I changed the fuse, the right turn signal blinks, dash light works (indicating right turn signal) BUT it stays on the right turn signal even when switched to left turn or off position.
I cannot get the turn signal for the left to work, I got a flasher unit, but cannot locate where the unit is.
I am not even sure if this is where the problem is-
any help and/or advice greatly appreciated.
replace the turn signal switch it self, mine did the same thing with the left turn signal, put in fuse and it will continue to flash... went to junk yard pulled one out of a 97 avenger just like mine, swapped them out and now it works fine. looked to be like some corrosion... to repace: 3 screws under columb, 2 screws on side of signal switch (black plastic side). unplug and replace

I recently bought a 97 dodger avenger. i bought the car from a friend that took it back from their daughter's ex-boyfriend and he had blown a fuse and he started replacing all the fuses and he was just putting fuses anywhere. I founf a 20 in a 15 fuse slot. the fuse box cover is gone so i need a diagram on what fuses go where. thanks for your help.

Here is the one from the inside. It is in the correct orientation as well.

i saw your solution for the other 2 people who had the same problems with their engines. i just bought a 1997 dodge avenger V6 2.5L after i got it i hooked it up to one of those computers at autozone and it said i had a misfire in one of the cylinders. so wat i did was i bought all new wires and spark plugs and new gaskets for it to c if that would fix the problem. after i got everything back together it ran perfectly fine for 1 day with no problems. then the next day after i got off of work and i started it the car did not want to stay idling at the usual rpm's. i spoke with my mechanic and he thought it might be the pcv valve. i replaced it and it still was not running right. the car will idle at very low rpm's if it's not moving, but if i'm driving it and i am going down a hill or i stop at a red light the car will die. the only way i can keep it running is if i put my foot on the gas slightly. i saw that u told the other people on here that it was the Idle Air Control motor. I just wanted to check with u and c if u thought that was the problem with my car. thanks
Check your EGR valve. It may be stuck open. I had a similar problem 2 years ago on my 97 avenger w/ 2.5L V6. Engine idled rough and would die when I stopped at a stop sign unless I feathered the gas pedal as I coasted to a stop. Replaced EGR valve, problem solved.

how do I know if my timing on my car has jumped other than the obvious (the car quit running)
You cant tell unless you can get it running. Its computer controlled. If you have no spark or RPM signal then its most likely a crank sensor or ASD relay.
