1997 dodge avenger engine problems V6 2.5

Check your EGR valve. It may be stuck open. I had a similar problem 2 years ago on my 97 avenger w/ 2.5L V6. Engine idled rough and would die when I stopped at a stop sign unless I feathered the gas pedal as I coasted to a stop. Replaced EGR valve, problem solved.

My 97' dodge avenger has

best advice is to trade it in as its on the way out ,what i suspect is that someone has put EP gearbox oil into a autobox ,this oil is extremely thick so when its cold its dragging in the torque converter ,now i hate to say this but in american dialect i would suggest a "tranny flush" and see how it performs afterwards ,if it does have EP hypoid oil in it then it will smell funny ,cant descibe it but the additives used smell vile and if i have cahnged a clutch and got oil on my hands and in my clothes no matter how much i shower and use a smelly i can never get rid of it for days .if in doubt ask a local mechanic to have a sniff ,he will soon recognise the stench

Timing belt removal for 1997 Dodge Avenger

There is some stuff to remove first, like the P.S. reservoir, the front motor mount (put a jack under engine with a piece of wood between), possibly the alternator bracket-not sure. And of course, the serpentine belt and the crankshaft pulley. Then the covers can come off. You'd better get a repair manual-it's pretty involved-even the procedure for cover removal. Or you can register for free at autozone.com, listing your car there. The site gives a fair number of model-specific repair procedures, including replacing the timing belt.Good luck.

Battery light keep popping on every now an than when im driving.

Your serpentine belt running the alternator may be too loose. If the tensioner for it is good, the belt may be old and stretched. If belt tension is good, have the alternator checked-it may be tired and wearing out, not putting out enough current. Are all your battery and alternator connections clean and tight? On my son's Cirrus, we found a loose connection on the battery post, keeping the battery from charging.Good luck.

I have a 1997 dodge avenger es 2.5 liter here's

Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any sign of gas being sucked into the line. A failed regulator will let extra gas get into the engine. If it's okay, have the fuel pressure checked. That's sure a lot of gas, way too much for the engine. Good luck.

sounds to me like it could be a couple different things. are you leaking water anywhere? if so, it could be a ruptured hose or heater core. if not, possibly a stuck thermostat.
