torque specs for 3.9l engine cylinder head and crankshaft bolts.
Page 3-26 of Chilton's reads:
14. Using no sealer whatsoever, install the new head gasket(s) to the block. Clean, dry and lightly oil all head bolts threads. Install the heads and install the head bolts.
Tighten head bolts in sequence to 50 ft. lbs. (68Nm). Repeat the sequence retightening the bolts to a final torque of 105 ft. lbs. (143 Nm) and repeat the second step to ensure that all bolts are accurately torqued.
torgue chart from chilton (page 3-11) for your engine and year show:
main bearing bolts 85 ft lbs
rod bearing bolts 45 ft lbs
crankshaft damper bolts 135 ft lbs
flywheel bolts 55 lbs

92 dodge dakota brake light abs light stuck on
ABOVE "Answers??" are only 1/2 correct ! Reason is:#1 doesn't help if you have 89-93 Dakota with ABS on REAR 2 wheels only. #2 is wrong BECAUSE ANY loss of brake fluid to rear leveling block sensor(located within frame above rear axle) will trigger cpu to keep abs light on=NOT electrical.#3 is worthless because it does not address brake fluid problem/air in system only(probably how to clear/read code by turning ignition switch). Answer=:Turn ignition key to just before start 3 times and wait a couple of sec for abs light to blink. Count # of blinks between pause and write down CODE ie 4 blinks=#4 pause 7 blinks=#7 the example code= 47. Look up code and read problem;CLEAR code by disconnect battery for 5 min to let cpu erase code. If spongy pedal or need fluid; bleed at all wheels PLUS at rear leveling block contained in frame(it has a small bleeder valve too and hard to get to!). If you have later models from 1995? with new system III you will need code reader/tester. P.S. If you have a parasitic electrical leak(battery goes down over 1-3 days) check fillament(sic) on rear bulbs. One could be broken and lay against other. Bulb will work most of time BUT WILL BE PARTIAL SHORT-therefore draining battery! Good luck-Rick

Transmission made a loud pop then quit moving in drive. Truck still moves in reverse
An automatic transmission consists of a series of bands (gears) which is each gear within the transmission. You state that truck will move in reverse, but not in drive. The loud pop you heard was the forward gear band breaking. From this point you have two options...either have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.

transmission will not shift into overdrive sometimes, mostly when cold. After engine is warm, it will shift. It started doing this after i cahneged the transmission fluid and filter to Royal Purple
Overdrive is electrically controlled by the pcm. When it's cold you need to check to see if the pcm is grounding the overdrive solenoid. If it is the solenoid might be bad or if the pcm is not grounding it then you need to check items that would cause the pcm to lock out overdrive. Coolant temp, TPS, Vehicle speed sensor, ECT. You will have to have it scanned to do this.

what's the torque spec for 3.9 dakota rocker arm bolts
In the 2000 Dakota, the torque is 21 ft lb/28 N m. I suspect this torque is the same for all 3.9 L V6 engines.

were is the oil pressure sensor located on a 1992 dodge dakota
It is located behind the breather, on the passenger side of the distributor. If you are having low oil pressure I'll give you a tip. You can change the sensor, but if that doesn't work, then the problem very likely could be that, dodge dakotas are notorious for a buildup of sludge on the screen of the oil pump, which blocks the flow of oil. If you are going to drop the oil pan to address this you may as well put a new oil pump in while you are at it. They are 30-50 dollars. If you can do it yourself, the whole operation should cost less than 100 dollars, if you take it to a garage, you better have a fat wallet.

how do you replace a heater core on a 1992 dodge dakota?
cakes5, This is not an easy job. What you have to do is remove the dash board to get at the airbox where the heater core is located. This is whats needed to be done to do this. Drain the cooling system, evacuate the AC system. Remove the heater hoses on the engine side of the core, remove the AC lines as well. There are three or four bolts that have to be removed as well but we will come back to that later. Remove the panels below the steering wheel because the steering wheel mounting bolts have to be removed and you will have to sit the wheel on the drivers seat. Remove the panels on the top of the dashboard under the windshield. You will find screws holding the top of the dashboard. On the bottom of the dashboard you will find a row of screws holding the bottom, remove them. Remove the glove box door for easier access. On both sides of the metal bar that spans the lower dashboard you will find two 13mm bolts that hold the bar in place. Remove them. This is also the pivot point that you will use to swing the dashboard back towards the seats. As you go along with all this you will encounter many plugs that have to be unplugged. Either try to remember where they came from or write down how many you unplug and where they came from. There are also air passages that have to be removed. The wire harnesses have to be dealt with as well. You wont have to remove the dashboard from the vehicle, just remove what you have to to pull the right side back away from the front of its mounting point. When you pull the dashboard back, secure it out of your way as much as possible. This wont be much. In the middle of the front of the firewall you will see a large black box and this is what has to be removed from the vehicle. There are a few screws that hold the box in place on the inside. There are also a few bolts that are inside the engine compartment. (remember them) You should now be able to remove the airbox from the vehicle. Once you've removed it from the vehicle you will have to remove the screws holding the box together and replace the damaged core with the new one. This should take all of ten minutes to replace. Reverse the procedure for re-installation making sure that all the plugs , wire harnesses and air ducts are placed back properly. Good luck with this.

Fuel gauge began "wobbling" erratically. Put in a new fuel sending unit. The gauge showed full when filling tank but would stop reading when showing about half full. Now it is stuck at 1/4 tank. Can the guage be replaced alone or do I need a whole instrument panel assembly.
Definitely the gauge can be changed, provided the float in the fuel tank is OK, i.e. no leaks. This float connects to a potentiometer which records the current flowing thru it and displays it in the gauge. So before replacing the gauge measure the current and match that against the quantity of fuel in the tank...............sodeep
