2005 Chevy Aveo - engine light and hold lights flash
I also had the same problem, But the problem lies in the switch the actual hold switch on my aveo there is a side entry way you can pop off the one on the left will give you access to the switch. what could of happen is theres is condensation in inside the switch. then when it gets cold it freezes causing the switch to malfunction. This could happen either by spilling something on the switch or using a cleaning solvent like armorall, YOU MUST BE CAREFULL WITH ANYTHING LIQUID NEAR THE HOLD SWITCH. Also the car going from warm when you drive then cold when you park it at night. My car was in warranty and remind you I came up with is the dealership had no idea what was wrong. they reseted the computer it worked for a week then was happening again. I have knoweldge in switches/wiring so i decided to check pot the switch and open it up and sure enough there was condensation took it to dealer told them to try a new switch works perfect and going on 5 months with out problems. Replacing the switch can solve pretty much every problem that is stated here i think. Also take a look at the wiring and connections for older aveos
Instructions and torque specs for a timing belt but 05 Chevy Aveo
You will need the timing lock device that locks the crank and cam shafts for when you remove the old belt, (maybe able to hire one perhaps). The new belt will include markings and a water pump.
If you have never replaced one before, prepare to pay a garage a lot of money to put it right for you.
Reset code chevy aveo low tire pressure
Once the tires are correctly inflated as per the required PSI, the light should go away, if not, follow these possible solutions. We are sure one of thse will work for you:
1. Drive at a steady speed of 50 mph for 10 minutes or higher, then switch off the engine, this may get the light to stop
2. Turn the key to the ON position and then press and hold the TPMS reset button located under the steering wheel. Check the car's manual to see where it's located. Hold the button until the TPMS light blinks thrice. Crank up the engine, and the sensor shall refresh within 20 minutes
3. Inflate all four tires to their recommended pressure plus three PSI more. Then deflate them entirely and then reinflate them to the recommended PSI
4. Remove the positive wire of the battery, switch on the car, and then press and hold the horn for three seconds to discharge any power left in the vehicle. Then reconnect the battery, and the problem should be solved.
2005 chevy aveo the wipers will not park.Battery was boosted with the wrong polarity and now the wipers stop as soon as you turn off the wipers. They will not park or the delay wiper will not work,
By 2005 many cars were hardly cars at all and really resembled wheeled computers - semiconductors everywhere and one thing semiconductors dislike more than anything (apart from being struck by lightning) is being fed with reversed polarity current.
Connecting a battery the wrong way around, even for a second, has been known to cause so much electronic damage in some cases as to economically write-off the car. I guess you were very very lucky to only have a problem with wiper parking, though I wouldn't be surprised to hear of more problems later.
I advise you to obtain a wiring diagram to discover the best place to check for the problem. GM tend to use a single computer to provide all the timed functions but whether they still use an electronic relay for the wipers, I am unable to comment about.
2005 Chevy Aveo LS Dashboard lights won't come on
The problems stated above seem to be caused by SP101 (specifically contact #1) being burned and contact 3 (dash lights), and contacts 2, 4, & 5 not receiving power. SP101 is located inside the fuse box under the hood. It is a white, 20 pin connector that splices wires internally. Either replace the connector and the purple/white wire, or solder/splice the wires together and solder or crimp. I don't know if the dealer sells the splice, I'm looking into that because I need it. I don't know why this splice malfunctions and the left side (identical) doesn't. Unfortunately, this is common in the Aveo and the dealer mechanics seem to be totally clueless!
