05 chevy malibu won't accelrate
Check compression. If its a 4 cylinder that's fairly easy with a compression gauge. All 4 cylinders should be around 180-190 psi. If all 4 are low suspect a jumped timing chain.
Not shifting after 40 mph, could it be something other than tranny issues??
Sounds to me like the car is in limp mode. This happens when the cars computers see something very wrong, and locks the transmission into second gear. This would explain the boggy feeling at take off and the limited speed. You should definitely get your check engine light checked out to see what code is there. Only then can you pursue the problem further.
How do I remove an in-dash cup holder in my 2005 Chevy Malibu
open the cup holder and under side of holder is a tag that needs to be pushed down whilst pulling gently on the cup holder , if the tag is not under neath it will be towards the dash end of the cup hole , depends on the part supplied at time of manufacture
Chevy climate control
it sure could be that head unit. if you want to clean the unit it might help. disconnect the battery, pop the bezel off the radio and head unit remove the four 9/32" bolts that hold the unit in the dash, unplug the head unit and spray it with computer duster.
Disable air bag
there is a law, you cannot disable air bag and if you have an accident and it's prove that is was disable you will have more trouble
Best way is to find the air bag code and see how much it cost to fix it. LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT
Hope it helps
Seatbelts locked after minor collision
Your seat belts are tied in to your air bag system. Even though your air bags may not have deployed, your seat belt(s) have deployed a one-time use trigger designed to cinch you tightly into your seat in the collision you were in. There is no way to reset them, they will need to be replaced. A used, functioning seatbelt will work, but usually must be of the same year as your car, even if other years appear identical. The wrong year will appear to the on board computer as an error, and will not allow the system to be restored to functional (air bag light will not go off), even though now your seat belt will appear to function. If your air bag light stays on after the bulb-check sequence at startup, it means the system is disabled...the air bag will not function in a crash.
Ran my 2000 Malibu out of gas now I have a check engine light on
remove the negative cable for 10 minutes to reset the check engine light. If the light comes back on after being driven a few miles then you have another issue. Goto your local auto parts store and ask them if they can attach an OBD-II for you to figure out what your problem is.
Bad cv joint or transmission problem
Does it happen when you drive over bumps? You should bring it by a tire shop, ask them to put it on a lift and check to see if it could be ball joints or wheel barrings. Another possibility would be an axle, if the rubber boot is broken its possible the part may need to be replaced
Power streering
Time to replace the Steering Rack
If you changed the fluid every 3 years, you wouldn't
have that expensive repair to do
