Diagnostic code p0013, p0014
Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0013 is "Exhaust Cam Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit"Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0014 is "Exhaust Cam Position (CMP) System Performance"DTC P0014 can be caused by several things that can affect your variable cam timing system performance including using the wrong viscosity engine oil. However, since you have the DTC P0013, it is pretty obvious that the problem is being caused by a circuit malfunction in the control solenoid circuit. It could be as simple as a loose connection at the solenoid electrical connector. It could be that the solenoid itself has an open circuit in its coil windings, or it could even be caused by squirrels or mice chewing on the wiring harnesses in your engine compartment. You must diagnose the circuit to find the cause. Fixing the control solenoid circuit will most likely make both of these codes go away.
HOW to get 2006 HHR up to normal engine power? 2006 HHR engine loses power abruptly or barely keep going. "Reduced Engine Power" on display. Chev dealer replaced throttle body; problem persists.
I agree that all this new technology could have been used to make life easier instead of which it has been deliberately and calculatingly misused to make life harder and more expensive.
I suggest obtaining and using an obd recorder. The dealer might have one to loan you.
Plugged into the obd port it continuously records engine management conditions and data to be reviewed later on a standard laptop or desktop computer. It might need an expert to understand what is happening to cause the fault but sometimes that is the best or only way to find an intermittent fault.
There is one condition that can affect some engines without being recorded as a fault and that is a turbo over-boost condition caused by the incorrect operation of the turbo wastegate. This is generally a control or sensor problem and instantly kills the engine power when it happens. Switching off the engine and restarting allows normal driving again until inadvertently too much acceleration is used again and the cycle repeats.
I hope this helps.
2.2l auto. Is ECM bad?
I'll need more information to answer this please. Use the Comment button below and I'll see if I can help you.
How does the vehicle behave when you try to start it? Do you get error lights on the dash display? Does it just wind the starter? Does it try to start? Or does it just do nothing at all?
First get the battery tested as 'Shorting' it out like that could have damaged it. The only way to know for sure about the ECM is to plug it into a diagnostic system or an OBD2 scanner to read for any trouble code you might have triggered. A Good auto Electrician should be able to do this for you and some will even come to you to do the job.
Location of hhr traction control switch
Seems like you car has traction control, but no switch to turn it off. A proper fix would be to put the gear selector on reverse or low, and the traction would go off.
