Check engine light came on after direction to close fuel cap lite still on

Since the check engine light came on there should be a code stored in the PCM. That would be a good place to start researching this problem.

My 06 avalanche barley runs nasty smell an white

You have a blown head gasket, the white smoke is coolant, do not drive it this way or you will severely damaged the engine if you haven't already.

2006 gmc 1/2 ton 4l60e codes po753 785 740 2761

Hello
Based on the OBD2 fault codes you have this is either a faulty ground to the transmission shift solenoid pack due to a defect in the wiring harness or you have a defective PCM/TCM (Powertrain Control Module). At this point the wiring harness needs to be hooked up to a breakout box and each one of the circuits looked at to see if the signal to shift is being sent by the PCM/TCM. There is no one answer to a problem like this. I would suggest a good Transmission shop with the proper equipment or your local GM dealer. If you plan to try and manual test each circuit then you will need to buy a factory service manual set with full detailed wiring diagrams, these manuals are copyrighted and not free to share or download. You can purchase a year to the rights to download the factory manuals from this site www.alldatadiy.com all factory service manuals and factory bulletins are available to download. The cost of the service is about $40.00 for a one year subscription. I have no affiliation with this site it is just a recommendation to help you find the problem.
