2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Page 3 Questions & Answers
What cause front drive axles to go out often
Bad motor mounts can cause it. Trans differential problems can cause it. Truly horrible alignment can even cause it. Anything that would put undue added stress on the join will shorten the life.
Radio turns on, but no sound, locked
Unfortunately if you're radio's locked you have to take it to a GM dealership to have it unlocked - they have a 1-800 number they can call to get an unlock code, but the call has to come from a dealership rep with a valid dealer code.
Windshield wipers out of sync 2005 monte carlo
If only one wiper arm is out of sync it means that arm has come loose. To repair it take that arm off and activate the wiper to get it into park position. then re- mount the bad arm in the park position, making sure the nut is tight. Check the splines on the bad arm because they strip easily and sometimes have to be replaced if it does not tighten down
Car won't idle
First if the "service engine" light is on I would have a local retailer or garage see what the codes are. For possible TPS, IAC, or mass air flow problems. TPS being "throttle position sensor" IAC being "idle air control" If a light is not currently present, listen under the hood for a hissing noise or signs of a vaccum leak.
Multifunction switch
I have a 3.4 2005 monte carlo when I turn my key to run my dash lights up when I go to start no power everything goes out I checked my fuses and battery and terminals everything is good what could it be
I have a 2005 monte

Bad back brake pads
its a good idea to have rear disc caliper compressor. prob can get one from AutoZone (loan/rent)
Bad back brakes
If your disks are bad, you need to replace them with new ones, or have them turned at a machine shop.
Normal running temperature
I would look else where for the problem unless the thermostat is stuck open. Thermostats work by blocking the water to the radiator until the coolant in the block has reached operating temperature and then they start to open. As soon as they read a cooler water temperature they will start to close and restrict the flow until the operating temperature is maintained . IT would make no difference which thermostat you fitted as the number indicates when it starts to open. I would be checking the temperature sender unit and the gauge and I would be checking the coolant level in the radiator at the cap not the resevoir
Why won't my 2005 montecarlo start and keeps saying security
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Air conditioner fan not working
GM fan switch resistors are a well known weak link. Im not sure where they mount in your Monte Carlo but on other GM models they are under the dash, passenger side and are usually fairly accessible.
