What could cause the oil to run out above the starter only while running?
It seems to me that you might have a problem with your head gasket, also check the valve cover gasket, for the heads gasket if this is the problem you might want to take it to a mechanic shop, and if is your valve cover gasket you can do this your own self, ask auto zone for the tienen process make sure you put silicone on the proper edges good luck!!!!
Why it runs rich
lots of reasons. over 50 in fact.
we can do the tests, or gue$$
no engine stated, (day1 options) so ?????
1: its misfiring , never had a tuneup.
2: fuel pressure is 2 times normal, bad fuel pump regulator.
3: injectors leaking, or worst ECU bad . causing this.
4: PCM stuck in limp home, try scanning the PCM see the errors?
5: bad inputs to PCM, see #4
6: lots more.. this is common list
Where is the starter on the oldsmobil silhouette
Open the hood covering the engine. Look down between the back of the radiator fans and your engine. The starter is there, right of your oil filter, at about the same horizontal elevation. It is very difficult to access the starter from the top side, and impossible to lift and remove it through the small access opening. You will need to lift your van front end to access the starter and replace it. Just remember to disconnect the battery and use the proper equipment to lift and stabilize the front end while you do the work. Note the wiring sequence on the solonoid before removing and I believe there is a ground wire connected to one of the two bolts that secure the starter to the engine block. Make sure to reattach it.
What are the tune up specs for a 2000 olds sillhoette
Need to explain
Tune-ups left some 25 years ago,even though
shops advertise & talk about it & pitch that non sense
Today's vehicles require spark plugs to
be changed, everything else is done by computer
& has been for 33 years
The only exception is a few vehicles with an ignition
distributor & obviously you clean the cap & rotor
Do you not have a repair shop you take vehicles to?
You need to separate tune-up from the many things
that are covered under Preventative Maintenance
I personally treat all vehicles the same
Today I mostly go by time in years & seldom worry
about mileage ,other then motor oil
You need to road test all vehicles a few times a year with
a scan tool & look at data, just as you go to a doctor for
a check up
Starter wiring diagrams
Should be pretty obvious by the size of the terminals to the size of the connector on the wiring. The obvious is that the large cable(4 gauge or so) will go to the top large stud on the back of the starter solenoid. Any small wires (14 gauge or so) with large connectors will go under the 4 gauge cable and the one small wire (12 gauge) with small connector (I think it is purple in color) will go on the s terminal of the solenoid.
Hopes this helps.
How do you wire a new starter?
What model/make, vehicle is it? Most usually it is a battery hot lead from the battery positive directly to the starter and two wires to the starter sylonoid. If you'll tell me what you have I'll be happy to help
