Yes, it was a poor design. The plastic part of the gasket erodes away leaving the soft silicone seal behind. The silicone is not strong enough by itself and fails under pressure.
I too have had this issue. This is what I did too solve problem
step 1 spray with brake cleaner to remove all foreign materials
step 2 check operation with screw driver and door handle.
step 3 check that bar on body is aligned properly with catch in door
step 4 use large torx bit to loosen bar and align with door catch then retighten
step 5 lube catch with white lithium grease or equivalent not ( water displacer 40) problem should be solved
First you have to fix the problem causing it to light up, get the codes read at Autozone for free. Then after fixing problem(s) unhook negative battery cable for a few minutes and hook back up. Should clear the codes and light will go out unless the computer finds another problem.
Go to Car Part com Used Auto Parts Market and enter your vehicle information. It has a built in Hollander interchange and will be able to find you a complete list of compatible parts. I always enter my zip and search by distance to find the parts closest to me.
I suggest you refer to your owners manual or service guide for the vehicle. This will give you the manufacturers approved fluids to be used. Should you not have these records, simply call your nearest dealership and they will gladly supply you the information you need. good luck!
Sounds like more than one problem, but make sure brake fluid is up first. Then check your tranny fluid after you fill brake fluid. You never want to run low on brake fluid, otherwise you won't have any brakes.
The ABS light is on, because you have no speed signal. The transmission is not shifting for the same reason. The core of your problem is the speed signal. I would first check the speed sensor wires again. One of them may be broken. If not, then you may have popped the ECM (Vehicle Eletronic Control Module). Good luck.
It does sound as if there is a short in the wiring harness going to the radio.
I would go to your local Advance Auto and ask them to read the actual code given by the service engine light. But the fuse box is located to the left of the instrument panel on the very side of the dashboard. there is a little plastic clip that turns to release the cover panel to show the fuse box on the side of the dash board. and there is also another fuse box located on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

You shouldn't have to use 4wd to tow a boat out of the water. Does your truck have a 2wd button or just the 4high and 4low button? If you have a 2wd button, put tranny in neutral and then hit the 2wd button. If you just have the 4high and 4low button, put the tranny into neutral then press the 4high button twice (Once to get back into 4high, then again to get out of 4high and back to 2wd).
