You need a 'proper' garage and Midas isn't one! They are oil change and exhaust jockeys. I can't see how you need a cam locking tool to change a cork gasket on a cover! two jobs 1. Fix the oil leak. 2. Check the transmission shift module and sensors.

Need a professional grade type - one that will read codes - communicate with all the modules on the vehicle . BCM, ABS , SRS , Instrument cluster ,HVAC , Radio etc... One of those or all will have U codes stored , a wiring diagram is going to help you . Do you know what U codes are ? instead of grounds is there battery voltage at pin 16 in DLC ?

There is a good chance that the two are not related. These engines are known for having timming chain issues.How many miles are on the car? Have you had the timing chains and guides serviced yet? I would make sure all timing marks still lign up.

It could be. Did it start right after the front end was done? The transmission control cable may have been damaged or adjustment changed by accident.

Because this is about your brakes take this to a mechanic as soon as you can! Noisy brakes could be anything from a minor issue to a serious caliper or damaged rotor problem. When you press the brake pedal does it feel different? Spongy? Harder than normal? Gritty? A pulse as you apply pressure?
