Liftgate won't unlock/open on Saturn Outlook 07
there is a small plastic cover on the inside of the liftgate near the center. Pry it off with a small screwdriver and you'll have to probe around a bit with a larger flat screwdriver, but there's a small lever in there that will trip the latch. Is it a power liftgate by chance???
I have parts if needed...
Remove door panel
If it has power windows it's easy. Look in the grab handle, behind the interior door handle and along the areas that you normally don't see with the door closed for scerw caps/covers. Once you have all the screws out, you can take a flat blade screwdriver wrapped in a rag and pry out on one of the corners. Then firmly pull the panel away from the door. Disconect any wires in the back and then lift off the door panel. If you have a hand crank it gets a little more complicated. You will have to take a rag and using a flossing motion (like you are drying your back-side) and get the rag in between the door handle and the panel. There is often a extra disc there too so you'll have to 'floss' inbetween that too. work the rag in a circular motion aroud the crank until you feel it catch on the U-shaped clip that holds the crank on. Make a little slack in the rag on the side that hasn't caught on anything yet then work that side down in and pull the slack out of the rag. You may have to do this a couple times but it saves having to buy the special tool for these clips. The tool is not that expensive...if you get fed up with the rag trick. Once you have the panel off you will probably see that some of the fasteners (dubbed christmas trees) have come off the panel and are still in the door. Simple pry them out and slide them back into place on the door panel. One final note, I have found that if you do this during the winter you should pull the car into a garage and let it warm up to keep from cracking the door panel.
