It would be the switch inside the linkage or the switch on the transmission that causes this or water or corrosion on the connector. I think it uses the signal from the transmission range selector switch on the transmission to trigger the locks. Have it checked out before you replace any parts as this is only an educated guess. The switch is also called the neutral safety switch.

  • You have an electronic power steering system.

  • Your power steering module, steering assist motor and the steering sensor could all be problems. You will have to have a scan performed to see what the exact problem is. There is no other way.

  • The power steering aides you in turning the wheel. When the light comes on there is a malfunction and this is why it is hard to turn the wheel, because the steering assistance of the power steering is gone at that time. Turning the car off just temporarily resets the PCM.

Not sure. You may look in the owners manual and see if there is any type of VALET mode to prevent the trunk from opening, of course if they have the KEY it wont matter. you can always disconnect the wires that go to the truck latch assy.

ONE O2 sensor could cost anywhere from $40 to $100, and the injector valve is another 50-$60, labor for both should be about an hour to and hour and a quarter, so I would think your total for both should be somewhere in the area of $135 to $225, figure something like $175. A private garage is going to be less expensive than a dealership, and neither item is real difficult to do for a good backyard mechanic.
